Just wanted to share this with somebody and not on Facebook.

My grandfather Simo passed away this morning, aged 92. He fell and broke his hip while cleaning the ice around his house last weekend. I'm sad and it's hard for me to let go because he was the best grandfather any boy could wish for. I spent most summers and winters at my grandparent's place and loved it. It seems like a different life now when I think about it. So many thing I could have done differently in adult life but regrets won't bring him back.

This is what he looked like a couple of years ago. He was a partisan during world war II. but he never talked about the war. Most of his friends and neighbours are dead and he was becoming increasingly scared of death with each passing year. I hope he finds peace wherever he's gone.

Goodbye grandad, I will always carry you in my heart.

My deepest condolences on your loss.
Sadly we are at that point of life were old loved ones are no longer with us...

very sad, sorry for your loss.

Condolence`s my friend and just think of the happy times and thankyou for your brave Grandfathers service during those terrible years

I wish I were as close to my grandfather as you obviously were to yours. My deepest regrets for your loss.

I'm very sorry to hear about this Bojan. Very sad to lose a loved one. I wish i had a grandfather around when i was a kid, but now i'm really happy that my kid can grow with both grandads around.

Wish you all the best buddy, may he rest in peace.

Thanks for all the kind words. It means a lot to me.

I am sorry for your loss. May he rest in peace. Our granparents did not have easy life but survived. I can imagine yet what you are feeling now. My grandparents are close to 90 now and I worry about them every day.

Sorry for your loss, but perhaps rejoice that 92 years is an amazingly long life - even more amazing to have such a good health to do chores around the house!

Very sorry for your loss. Time is the only healer, you have to hang in there until enough time passes to ease the pain of the great times you had together.

I'm very sorry for your loss... I miss my grandad too, people that survived the Second World War were very strong and able to see the World in a better way... my deepest condolences...

I am sorry for your loss... I have lost all of my parents and grandparents in recent years. It can be lonely sometimes for sure but you will see happy days again. It seems as though you are among friends here.

I 'm so sorry for your loss....
un abbraccio from Italy

I'm really sorry for your grandfather. All my condolences.
Keep in mind the good times you had with him. This is the best way to keep his memory.

Its generation has experienced very difficult times with wars. They have experienced the explosive evolution of technologies, and they also have the chance to live long enough. 92 years is almost a century! It's beautiful. But it's really sad that his life has stopped on a simple accident. Not sure that our generation will have the chance to live as long and as healthy.

All my condolences for the man with the red roses.

Sorry to hear of your lose. He did have a long life, liked happy in that picture, and you got to spend great years and memories with him. That is something that will stay with you.

Sadly I never knew either of my grand fathers. My mum's dad died when she was 14 and my dad's dad died when I was 3. It would have been nice to know them as I feel I never got to know part of my family and it's history. You were lucky.

My deepest sympathies for the loss of such a brave and loved family member. Enjoy the memories of your time together, I never really got to know my grandparents they passed when I was very young.

I'm sorry for your loss matey, having lost most of my grandparents I know how it feels. I'll bet that they'd prefer you to remember all the good times you had with them, but that's easy to say when it's not long happened.

Time will make it easier, and the fond memories will be brighter than the sad ones.
