Ok so I'm feeling a bit nostalgic after offering my a500's
on here and getting a couple of new toys.

ebay item: Amiga Acube Sam 440EP system with OS4.1 and cubic IDE

ebay item: (Amiga Technologies) 1200 HD boxed with loads of extras

and also an amiga 4000d revision D with mediator , voodoo 3 and ne2000
16mb ram which looks nearly mint from another source.

Seriously i must be going mental best part of £1k gone in 24hrs...

I always wanted to try Os4.1 but I also love the old amiga stuff
so I will decide later on wether to put the a1200 in a tower and
give it some nice upgrades, or upgrade the a4000.

I seriously hate this impulse buying stuff because I will probably be
very enthusiastic about this for a few weeks and then get bored and
sell it all... lol

Regards

Jack

Had to edit the auction link out there I'm afraid, but if anyone wants to search in the completed listings they will find it.
That is a very nice system there. I'm looking forward to the updated classic version of 4.1 myself.

The Amiga is a very addictive system, even though you show her nothing but love, she hurts you. But you come back for more. :D

Sorry mate i dind't realise that that was not ok.

Isn't it a funny thing about nostalgia that an amiga actually is an emotional thing?
I have never had the same feeling for my PC's and macs that I had / have for amigas

Be prepared for lots of annoying questions when I start upgrading these things
as I have been away from the amiga for a long long time, if i even remember how
to re-install workbench it will be a triumph.

actual the pictures are optional but they always help ;)

good luck with your new toys and remember to have fun, its not all about swearing loudly and pulling your hair out ;)

Nice acquisition that, I saw it on ebay and tharts definately the most economical way to OS4.1 running, hope you enjoy it (y)

The A1200 as well should be an awesome asset too, all you'll need is a 8mb Ram expansion or an accelerator and you'll have a great WHDLoad machine.

Steve.

Very nice, enjoy!:) I've recently got back into them myself, so don't worry about being the only person asking silly questions!!:)

I agree there is something very special and personable about the Amiga, that I also have never felt with any PC I have ever owned :D. Especially the upgrade parts, I just love the ingenuity of them and originality - totally lost in the PC scene I feel by comparison..

Well the a1200 arrived today and the box is nearly mint although the machine itself
needs the retrobright treatment, it seems a shame to open her as she still has her
warranty seal intact.

Is there anyway to find out what revision it is without opening?

Showconfig is pretty basic and says
PROCESSOR: CPU 68020
CUSTOM CHIPS: AA Pal Alice (id=$0023) AA Lisa (id=$00F8)
ROM :Kickstart version 40.68 Exec version 40.10 Disk version 40.42
RAM: Mode Type SA Attributes S703 (CHIP) at $400-$1fffff (*2.0meg)
BOARDS:
None

It is surely a 1D4 or 2B revision, as original Commodore machines never where 3.1 ROM (40.68 kickstart means ROM 3.1). More only after opening the machine.

You can carefully cut around the screw hole on the seal if you want to keep it. But I pretty doubt you'll have much use of it without hacking the floppy to be fully Amiga compliant and adding an HD an replacing the motherboard capacitors.

Hacking the floppy??? Whats wrong with it?? Sorry to be such a newb, can it be replaced with a stock commodore instead of amiga tech drive?

Nope, you must hack the board prior to use an original C= floppy (or a hacked full-compliant unit).

As the drive is, it will work with most Amiga floppies, but some games & demos that need the ready signal will fail miserably. As a test you can download the demo "State of the Art" from Aminet, put it on back on floppy and run it. It will not run.

Ian Stedman is making some adaptors that can cure this behaviour on his own site. He is not a member here, unfortunately (BTW: what an acquisition to this site!).

personally I love the 2b boards as it a simple soldering job so it will take Amiga keyboards, done that to mine
