Hey everybody!

After a really loooong time away from this forum and almost from everything that has to do with amigas, I decided it's time to spend some time with another amiga project!

In the past I had made some really cool projects and I would like to make something similar for my beloved amiga 2000! The idea was to get a maxed out or a really beefed up configuration.

So, I need any help I can get from you guys to build a special 2000.
What mobo revision to get? What accelerator, ram board etc? Should I get legacy hardware exclusively or look also for something current gen like TerribleFire? Bridgeboards, emulator boards?

So, any help would be really greatly appreciated.

6.0+ - 6.2 or 6.3 is the best (I have one for sale at the moment - look at my threads)

Stock A2000 will max out at 10MB (2MB Chip with Super Agnus and 8MB Fast) - so any ram board will do, but if you plan for accelerator, then they usually have RAM slots anyway.

FPGA is emulation so is the PiStorm so I would personally go with a real deal silicon - TerribleFire would be one option but AFAIK it won't take advantage of the coprocessor slot for a clean build (there are adapters but that's just a piece of PCB with a socket so it still looks like crap). On the other hand legacy accelerators cost crazy amount of money these days...

Commodore bridgeboards are pretty unresponsive, I do have Vertex which seems much smoother and have some advantages over Commodore bridgeboards.

You will also need some sort of scan doubler. I'm disappointed with Indivision ECS, I also had Lighttech scandoubler which I sort of liked, A2320 would be the best option in my opinion...

As for the storage you can go with SCSI or IDE or even MFM (which I wouldn't advice). For SCSI you would need some decent controller (which again will usually come with some fast RAM slots). For IDE Buddha from Individual Computers is a decent option.

Another classic upgrades for A2000 would be a Video Toaster card and better video option like Picasso II.

If you can get one, a 2630 and Picasso II with the right SCSI card should be able to run Amiga Unix. Not quite maxed out but a fairly unique setup nonetheless.

Do you have a suggestion for a SCSI card?

If AMIX (Amiga Unix) is in your plans, i'd say the safest choice would be the A2091, which supports booting, and can have up to 2MB RAM onboard.
On the video output front, i'd suggest the marvelous RGBtoHDMI gadget (RPi Zero-based). It comes in the default design that sits on the Denise socket, or as a card for the video slot in the A2000. Both versions will work in your machine, and i personally tested it in my A2000.
