I've now got a spare Neo Geo AES Joystick. It's what I originally got with my AES and its in useable condition, but is fairly scratched. The select button doesn't work either, seems the wire has been chewed by a dog in the past??
I was going to try and replace the wire with this: -

But I ended up getting a whole new controller so decided to just let this go cheap to someone who wants to repair it, mod it etc.
The insides are in top condition and the microswitches feel fine (see photos).
You could even use it without the new wire and just not be able to pause the game!
It will work with AES, CMVS or CD machines. It could even be used on an arcade project as there are no control chips in this one, its just simple wire to port so you could easily rewire it to a different port! The sky is the limit!
