I am wondering what is like now due firmware that improve so much and have anyone owned Neo Geo X?

I have one but barely touch it. I eagerly applied the v500 update but as far as screen tearing/sound issues are concerned I never noticed them (or even played enough to notice) to begin with. People generally seemed to like the update though as it did "fix" most concerns.

I have a feeling there is pretty much going to be no further support for the device due to the tommo/snk thing (not sure if it affects the Blaze-distributed devices?). So if you get one you may not even want to upgrade as that makes it easier to do some custom things.

All in all I couldn't complain for a $200ish device that came with an original retail's $5000 worth of games.

Well, this is how it was upon release.

It's just another of AtGames' licensed retro machines that run on an ARM core and boot into an inaccurate emulator (their many and varied Mega Drive units were especially shocking), except for this one, they retained similar pricing to the machine that inspired it.

I'm not sure even updates would make it worth the price, considering what it actually is. Even considering the fact that it has licensed game releases, it's worth remembering that you can get a lot of the games offered for it for less on retro compilations or download services on some consoles, anyway (and those typically have better emulation, as well).

I have one,

Got it not long after release.

The new firmware improved the issues people were complaining about, but to be honest i never had those issues anyway!

I have since bought a magic memory card adapter and jailbroken it with the latest hacked firmware, and its pretty much a dingoo now, as it has many emulators and roms installed.

I remeber reading that tommo did actually pretty much completely rip off dingux OS from the dingoo for this, and the emulator it uses for the NeoGeo is not actually as good as the dingoo one.

Its not a bad toy for playing NeoGeo games, and they are fairly faithful in the emulator, and compared to some of the other emulations handhelds, it does have a bit more of a quality feel, but the joystick that comes with it feels like it came out of a cereal packet compared to my real NeoGeo stick!

I sometimes take it away with me on he train etc, but mostly it gathers dust in my front room, i'm still of the opinion that still nothing can hold a torch to emulation on the old sony psp2000.
