Newly joined in.

Started my Amiga career in ca. 88 , I think, with an A500. Still got it, but it has issues.

Found it in the attic at end of last year, ands since then I've bought 2 A1200, where 1 is currently beeing recapped.

There has also been a lot of accessories, so it's starting to become an expensive hobby.

But when your are bitten by the bug. You'll fast end up spending more than you planned :D

Buy a car and retro is very cheap in comparison. Last garage bill was a sx64...

To all those who welcomed me, thank you.

Mojik: True that. Particularly where I live cars are ridiculous expensive both to buy, but also own. Itn that regard you're right. My Amiga hobby is cheap :)

direktorn: Those Swedes, you never truly get rid of them, do you :D

Welcome to Amibay Viserys23.

What kind of things do you use your Amiga for?

...I mean, of course they enable us to do anything and everything, but what do you find yourself doing the most?

Kin regards,
Nick

AndyLandy is right it's a Game of Throne name. It was intended to be a similar name in stead of the name of the idiot I ended up with. When I chose the name it was so long since I had read the books, that I got it wrong.

By the time I found out I've used the on to many sites to bother changing it.
I think it was the dragon Viserion it was supposed to be, as I liked the name.

I do however like Star wars as well.

nicholas.jj.taylor: Not much to be honest. I've bought a A1200 that took a long time to get running, and waiting for upgrades to arrive. When it finally came together I discovered that the audio was damaged by capacitator leaks, so after figuring out that I really should get someone else to do it for me I sent it off to Amigakit.

Got a nasty flu so it took a bit of time for me to discover it was stuck in customs, and to sort t
it out.

Bought another A1200 that I think was one of the NOS that recently showed up, where the previous owner had replaced the capacitors. It was pretty much as mint as you can get.

Got a GVP accelerator for it with scsi module, so I bought a small ITX that I fitted with a cd-rom and a hdd. With a few parts from ebay, I've now made my own "scsi tower".

Recently tried to install OS3.9, but some of the icons get distorted (and yes I have changed the colours to 256) so I gave up, and is going back to OS3.1.

Yesterday I bought a A4000 that I eagerly wait for to arrive.

This is probably more than you wanted to know :D

But the short answer is that, except for a bit of retro gaming, I haven't figured out what to use them for, except gaming.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Til alle nordmenn og svensker som har ønsket meg velkommen, takk. (To all Norwegians and Swedes to welcome me, thanks).

Will answer myself, as the latest reply was a bit clumsily written.

What I meant is that while I've been busy getting my Amigas up and running, I've basically spent no time finding out what sort of software is available, and what is possible with the Amiga.

I know there is a lot of software available at aminet, but finding the gems is difficult as there is so much.

If anyone has some tips on what is available, that would be welcomed.

Can I test my Prelude, two Picasso IVs, Zoram, Indivision A4000 and Deneb in your A4000 when you get it?

I'm going to put it up for sale here. And my own Amiga 4000 doesn't work because I damaged the Cyberstom PPC board.

All of the above equipment works, I just need to make photos of it working so that I can sell it with confidence. I don't want to sell it with "it worked the last time I tested it"... :-/

No problem.

It's stuck at customs at the moment. Hopefully I can get it released shortly.

I've ordered a Lyra 2 keyboard adapter from amigakit, so before it arrives I have no keyboard to use with it.

Will update when it's up and running.

Thanks!

I've got a Lyra and Micromys, also various Amiga keyboards. So nema problema at that front.

What kind of CPU does that Amiga4000 have?

ya it is an expensive hobby, you would think that the cost will be much less but i guess rare = more money!

Well, that is what I, and I strongly suspect, others have found out to their cost (sorry, couldn't help+ my self).
