Hi all

Just for fun I'd like to suggest a mixed up 'new year' thread... how about sharing your Retro gaming/ hardware 'Honours list'' of 2012 and your 'New Years Retro Resolutions'/ plans for 2013?

ie RETRO things you starting using in 2012, or had before but only re-discovered in 2012?

and the Resolutions; the RETRO things you really want to get into properly in 2013. Or that retro pile of stuff you really want to finally get sorted and play with.

It'd be great to see your lists!

Maybe limit to 5 each, tops. Just as a bit of fun :)

Mine as a starter:

New Years Retro Honors List for 2012:
1. Finding a BBC Master Compact, chopping it about and adding a Turbo MMC and VGA-out
2. Streamlining the retro pile. If it don't fit the cabinet, its gone!
3. Finding my 800XL after losing it in boxes for 2 years.

New Years Retro Resolutions 2013:
1. Finish off the master compact with a floppy drive.
2. Re-cap the Vectrex
3. Retrobrite the BBC
4. Build the Spectrum kit I've had for a year
5. Build the ZX81 kit I've had for at least 10 :)

yours?

:)

Resolutions
Spend less
Learn (even) more
Love retro
Create something game-like inspired by retro
Lose xmas flab :(

Oh and get back into my otaku groove... :p

Oh my

Oh my

I would like to do something with the c64 assembler I've been learning on and off, mostly on emulator.

What I did was also plan a routine for a 3D animation, but it's just thoughts.

The only real retro accomplishment in 2012 was to finally transfer my tapes to pc... lots of my early babblings with software and graphics were there, including a handmade scan of a baby chick that I coded in Simon's Basic at about 12 years of age, counting the dots on graph paper...!

My new year resolutions are as following,

1) Complete my setups
- Get a good lib for every machine/console, easily accessible with all the crap trown out.
- Solder in the modchips where they are not. I got at least three consoles without a chip where i got the actual chip to solder in ready (in a box)

2) Complete my retro web projects
- I have four pages with different degrees of retro related content in the works which none have been made public yet. ton of work, but once up and running it'll be smooth sailing. While this is something many does, i'd love to do it too just to make myself focus more on a particular game or idea.

3) Start selling
- I got 8 boxes full of stuff i'm apparently not using. Either stuff i bought with good intentions or that came with other stuff i bought. this needs to be resold. I really don't need several dozen joysticks.

4) Start enjoying more
- I intend to at least get half an hour a day in average with playtime.

Plans for 2013:
1. Get some entry-level soldering station.
2. Integrate the VGA upscaler I have with a SCART switchbox (an old cableTV device I'm gonna rip the guts out of / reuse sockets), inputs specifically wired for particular machines/consoles if needed.
3. Make or buy a scanline converter and cram that into the same box.

With all the expenses last month this isn't likely to start until february/march though.

Getting the 1541U-II
Flogging some unnecessary crap

2013 Resolutions
Sort out all my C64 stuff, sell anything of value that I don't need/use, trash worthless crap
Fix the broken SX-64 or sell it to someone who can
Get a soldering iron, learn soldering basics
Get a DOS machine built and fully working
Sort out everything else I don't want/use
Figure out a use for my second Raspberry Pi or re-sell it

2013 will basically be the year I streamline my collection of "junk", as my mum calls it!
