Newcomer to buying e-books looking for advice.

Hi, i've become a bit interested in reading some books lately and was thinking about going the e-book route even though i'd like paper books really, but i thought "hey, why not give it a shot?".
what format is the best if i want to be able to read them both on my computer and my android phone?
can someone tip me of a good e-store that takes paypal?

The obvious answer is the one I use, Amazon's Kindle. The App on Android is very simple to use and has some nice features compared to other e-readers.
The synchronisation between your computer and phone are also seamless. For example, last night I was browsing for books on my laptop as they have a Spring sale at the moment and I was able to "one click buy" and send the book straight to my phone without having to do anything else whatsoever. Next time I started the Kindle App on my phone, it downloaded the book straight away.
It doesn't use PayPal, however, but as a gigantic multinational company I'm not sure you would need the added extra protection of using a PayPal account.

Unfortunately, most eBook stores use DRM, which locks you into their system and devices. Amazon uses DRM, but they have to widest variety of devices on which their books can be read. The worst part about any eBook store that has DRM is that you lose access to the eBooks if the company ever goes out of business. Of course, it's unlikely that will happen to Amazon any time in the near future.

The Baen eBook Store (http://www.baenebooks.com/) is DRM free. They offer the download of their books in many common formats and you will never lose access to the books. The Baen store only sells books published by their company.
