It's always puzzled me.

Look at that.

That's the 8, 9 and 0 keycaps on a Norwegian Amiga keyboard. And look, there's a double set of parenthesis.

It's not the only redundancy on the Norwegian Amiga keyboard.

It also sports two equal symbols.

And wait, there's more!

You also gets double set of both / and \, < and >, and the dash is scattered over the keyboard many places.

Anyone know the reason for this, or have an hypothesis?

Because norwegians were ahead of their time, look "0" key, it's an emoji from the 80s...

When doing image search for Danish and Swedish Amiga keyboards, I see they have the same character duplications =><\/()-

I wonder if they've got their placements different from Norway. Lemme check.

In that case then this is due to a cost optimization, just saving money to have the same keycaps with different keymaps in the Nordics.

I figured it out.

It's not because of different layouts in the Nordics, or variations within Norway.

It's so that when you're using the US layout on your Nordic Amiga, you find that ()= etc, it's all moved on over to the right. It's so that you can kinda know where they are if you're not doing a Norwegian Keymap.

If you're on a Nordic Amiga keycap layout, the US keymap makes sense.

If you're on a Nordic Amiga keycap layout, with a Nordic keymap it still makes sense.

The penny dropped.
