There's a TV repair shop around my neighborhood that I've known to be there for like as long as I've lived in this city and probably even more so. I wonder if there is still some old coot working, who'd know the innards of an 8 bit computer from the back of his hand.

Modern electronics is so integrated and cheap that it really isn't worth repairing nowadays. The old stuff is a different issue, if you know what you're doing.

What do you think, should I take my non working 728 to that shop for them to have a look?

Of course. Worst case scenario the repair man will refuse to work on it.

I am very lucky as my father ran 2 TV repair shops in the 80's so when ever my old skool tv or video goes down he can fix it for me.

Its a a lost art form and something I really miss in a strange way.

Yeah - take it. There is an old school repair shop close to me and they fixed my 1084 monitor a while back!

There's one near mine and although dispite being there for a long time, I question the guy's talent at times which is a real shame. Though I have found myself without any options and rely on him at times.
