OK, not really a life or death problem, but one I'd like to tie-down none the less...

My WHDLoad install (V1.2 - the latest, I believe) of Operation Wolf will only say the word "Operation" when the mouse button is clicked from the initial screen. I cannot get it to finish off the sentence with "Wolf".

Been trying the normal ToolTypes, and this is strange too, as some of these 'disappear' once the icon is double-clicked to run the game - like "NOCACHE" - sometimes it stays between 'uses' and other times it seems to delete itself after the executable has been run.

Anyone else seen such strange behaviour with this WHDLoad package..?

There is number of things that can go wrong here.
But first things first, I guess you are running 17.1, right ?

what system are you running it on etc?

its works fine here although its a bit fast:lol:

by the way, when i press the mouse button to play this is what scrolls across the screen.

OPERATION INITIATED ! RESCUE HOSTAGES ! (the speech part just says: operation)

Yes, that's the problem exactly! The menus & game runs fine but the opening screen speech just says "operation" and no "wolf". Very strange! Oh yes, and I am running 17.1 on a stock 040 A4000D.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Right - seems I've fiddled with all the parameters I can and it just won't say the word "Wolf" for me.

Could others, who have this game on WHDLoad, give it a quick test to see if there is a pattern please?

You only need to load it and hit the mouse button - it should then show the 'Mission Initiated' screen and say the words "Operation Wolf", not just "Operation...". Works fine on original floppy versions...

Thanks!

Yes, would be interesting to know if a previous Slave (this is V1.2) or a previous version of WHDLoad (I use the latest, 17.1) experienced this also.

I've filled-out the bug report on the WHDLoad page already...

it does it in 16.8 16.9 and 17 as far as i know.

i'll boot my 500+ and 1200 and try those as well.(just in case its cpu related)

Thanks for that.

I know it's not life or death and the slave hasn't been worked on since 2006, so it's doubtful that there will be a fix, but it's worth having a perfect copy (I think) as isn't that the idea of 'emulation'..?

Yep - tested working fine last night from floppy...

Here's a link to a YouTube video of the game...

So you can hear for yourself.

How odd. I would have a guess that as it is running from HDD with accelerator that the games loads before the speach finishes and is therefore cut. Loading from floppy is much slower and so the speach finishes as the loading is ongoing or being held by the disk drive.

Loved this game in the arcades back in the 80's and 90's but don't fancy the Amiga version much now.

Beta-testing a new V1.3 this evening

Fingers crossed..... :)

Yes...

Fixed!
We can again enjoy the Operation Wolf in its original form.

V1.3 should be out soon - thanks to CFOU

I remember when I used to played Operation Wolf Arcade back in 80's and it was Amazing Experience to hold the Guns and fire whatever happen on the screen!

The Sound was so Good too :D

Always enjoyed the sound and graphics in the Amiga port - even if the visuals were straight outta ST. The gameplay is sadly lacking though.

Here's to CFOU!
