Hi

I'm moving soon and currently very busy packing my computers & consoles, its very time consuming and much more complicated than I imagined!

The moving company prefers I use identical boxes of a certain size, otherwise they charge more.
For example, I'm trying to figure out how to pack multiple loose A1200 in the same box, so each one is well padded and there's no pressure on the keyboards.
The fact they have crazy angles all around makes this harder than expected.

Any ideas?

I put a ton of keyboard Amigas/ataris on their side with bubble wrap in a large ikea tub with a lid and everything survived that in my car , wouldn’t be putting that in a removals van though .

No easy way out, but as a general rule, if able put everything on the side inside the boxes, instead of stacking them flat. This way each item (machines, boards, keyboards etc) have to support its' own weight only.

Yep that's what I did , put them on the backside where the ports are or if worried about the ports then lay them down on each other slightly at an angle 45 degrees, just use a ton of bubble wrap around them. Not much else you can do , just make sure you travel with them carefully (no pot holes/ speed bumps at high speed).

Anything super valuable or precious like my Amigas or Neo Geo AES came with me in the car. No way did I trust the removal company.

I could loose everything but at least in the new house I knew would always have my A500, A600 and A1200 with me! (But no TV or furniture or clothes etc!)

I plan to put them on the backside, just worried that after I wrap each unit and put them together, there would be pressure on the keyboard.
I guess that's unavoidable...

I currently don't have a car, so would have to use the moving company for most of the stuff. Thats why I'm trying to pack everything to survive some bumps and weight from putting boxes on top of each other.
There's just too much stuff - a room full of computers, consoles & accessories, CRT monitors & TVs, heavy audio gear, lab equipment, etc.
If I see there's no choice, I'll rent a car and take some of the machines with me.

Thanks for the suggestions!

If they are individually wrapped with bubble wrap, then a bit of pressure on the keyboard should not cause any problems. I assume the machines will be unpacked again at the new location?
You could also cover the entire keyboard with a single piece of cardboard inside the bubble wrap. Then any kind of pressure will be distributed across a large area and thus will be quite unlikely to cause any damage.
