Hi,

Just wondering anyone has any experience painting ,or using an homemade retro-bright solution,on their Amigas ?
Thanks

I've done both
i prefer to use retrobright where possible and only ever painted plastic when there has been damage to it and have had to fill in chips/cracks before painting it.

ve only retrobrited, never painted as it doesnt really look right, bblonde from boots etc is eary to use as you just brush it on, no mixing etc first.

Sorry to intervene, because I am interested to repair some deep scratches, the only solution is to fill them and then paint?

As for just whitening I use peroxide at vol 40 (used at the hair dressing) under the sun light for 10 hours. Usually that clean much of the yellowing. I just do not know if in long term it damage the plastic.

None of homemade Retro-bright solution didn't work for me. Even after painting casing, yellowing reappeared after a few weeks.
Sometimes there's no help.

I resprayed a couple of Amiga 1000 cases because retr0bright didn't do the job well enough. I found Kolorbond which seems to be for uPVC window frames but worked really well on the ABS Amiga cases. I was really pleased with the result.

I think you got the color exactly as the original. Good job. How much time now since you did the paint job? Does it last?

Yes, colour match is almost perfect. Been on for 2 months now and looks the same. Paint is UV resistant and supposedly guaranteed for 15 years on uPVC windows so should be fine on an Amiga!
