Hi all,

I rescued my old Amiga 1500 from my parents loft and was thankful to see that from what I can tell it still works.

What sadly doesn't work however is the monitor. I can't say exactly what's wrong, the power LED shows power but nothing I do shows any image. The power button needs to be held in to work but I think that's just another separate minor issue.

If someone could possibly help, I'd be so thankful. I love the monitor and would hate to see it die altogether.

Thanks.

Ah Cmon, is it a big secret to post details of the repair and diagnosis.
Would make for a much more interesting read lol.

:)

ah ok,lol

it had a failed lopt which failed on the final stage, replaced and calibrated. it was generating high voltage still and heaters were working but no picture
one failed HOT transistor,i replace them anyway when i replace lopts
it had a failed mains swicth, new one fitted(failed latch)
it had a failed inductor on the tube neck pcb so that needed replacing(12V feed for the electron guns 82uh part)
it had a failed speaker,so i replaced both
also had a few cold solder joints, but thats a given on these
board was then inspected and cleaned

its had a full service and safety check and burn in for 1.5 hours after it was working

i think thats about it :)

EDIT: these lopts dont normally fail like this, they normally fail on the primary and go short causing a overloading power supply under massive load(no power led) and high pitch whining effect, whats really surprising is it was still generating EHT voltage at the anode, which was an odd effect i dont experience much..
other odd thing was the blown inductor, that had me going for a few minutes...

Great work Roy once again...too bad you are in the UK otherwise i would certainly sent you my 1084P monitor!:(

Just want to thank Roy for doing an excellent job. Couldn't be happier with the monitor, to have it working again is a joy.

I think the monitor must gotten damp at some point, due to being in my loft. Whether that contributed to the odd issues I wouldn't know.
