Hi all, looking to see if there is anyone local who will do repairs on a couple of Amiga monitors I have?

First one is a CM8833 MK2 - It works and I have used it for quite a long time, but it has some little oddities.

The power switch as expected can be flakey and has to be stuck down to keep power going to it.
If the audio is too high, 1 of the speakers seems to cut out.
Sometimes I get a quick white noise like noise from the speakers and the screen "wobbles" out for a moment like it just had to correct itself.

Not sure if this down to a component failing, caps needing replacing or dry solder joints. Not confident in opening up a CRT to look myself so hoping there is someone out there!

The other monitor is a Commodore 1084ST - came with an Amiga I bought recently, and plugging it in and turning it on - nothing at all, not even the power light on the front, no life in it whatsoever. So hoping this could be looked at too.

@roy_bates is your man for this.

As for the 1084ST have you checked the fuse/plug?

yeah, ill look at both, youll have to get them to me some how,and your not exactly round the corner

you will have to send me a pm for my address,im in birmingham

in the mean time, dont try to power up the 1084st

first off i gave it a clean inside,it was very dusty, then reflowed all the joints that looked cracked, all the input connectors, and around the lopt pins were cracked
i replaced the mains switch,it had failed, thats par for the course on these
i removed and soaked two of the front controls in ipa, they were scratchy, volume control and brightness
small psa here, this still has the original lopt installed,if it dies he is welcome to bring it back like i said while he was here im not a salesman and not here to upsell what isnt wrong unless he wants it doing, and besides there no way to tell when that would fail, sio im leaving it be,for me its not a big deal
at the moment its fine and i think i cleared the faults mentioned here

couple of pictures to show it works

right next one,the 1084st

completly dead,it was power supply failure,i replaced the tda4605 and buz90 in the supply that fixed that problem
and another problem reaer its ugly head, the controls for brightness and contrast didnt work, that was a cold solder joint in the control panel
pain in the arse to get to ,but...fixed it

picture to show it works, ill send him a pm,hope his happy

Picked up today, both working amazingly well now, had them running for a few hours since picking them up and getting home and not a fault in sight.

Cant stress enough how amazing Roy has been with these, dropped them off, had a lovely chat - his knowledge about this stuff is incredible! Got home and nearly immediately started receiving updates on the repairs, and they were fixed incredibly quickly so popped back the next day to pick up. Another great chat and explained everything that was done to them. We are so incredibly lucky to have Roy!

Feedback left and thank you so much again for this, been trying the 1084ST and you were right, the speakers pointing backwards are so weird!

im am so happy, that you are happy,it was pleasure, happy people keep me going
let me go leave return feedback, enjoy your monitors :)

Thanks mate, should I get any more monitors (I probably need to stop now, house is full of them!) I know who to go to! Thank you again. I will need to give Dungeon Master 2 a go :D
