Stating that "PLAdvanced does not appear to have the proper CASRAM latency required" without ever having measured this.....

.... is not helping to make a product better! It's just bad-mouting a product (for obvious reasons).
If I wanted to 'bad mouth' the product, I would not have been specific on this issue.

Unlike their successors, boards 326298, KU-14194 and early versions of the 250407 are not equipped with R42 and C204 which increases the CASRAM response latency.

Considering what I know of the technology used on PLAdvanced, it appeared possible the CASRAM response speed may be too fast. If it's of no concern then it's all for the better.

My sole intention is to avoid situations such as this: http://www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=66746&sid=5b8034dbf4cf6eace4744208029f511f

I answered to NORM8332 on the VIC-20 Denial forum as follows:
The problem is, most PLA substitutes are advertised as 100% compatible while they are not. In order to know that some actually are 100% compatible, you have to buy one of each model advertised and test them on 5 different revisions of the C64 mainboard.

If somebody already bought half a dozen different PLA replacements in the hope of reviving an old NTSC 326298 (the most 'PLA sensitive' C64 board of them all) and they all failed (a very likely scenario), you're eventually going to assume all 'aftermarket' PLAs have issues.

The worst is, people check if a PLA replacement is good with software. It amounts to checking if a pair of glasses are good by checking what brands of car you can or cannot drive with them. So people in general are misleading themselves.
Perhaps much less obvious at first glance but potentially far more important in the long run to the Commodore community as a whole.

In the last 2 years, a number of vendors offering PLA substitutes for the C64 were contacted to indicate there were issues with their products and they too reacted negatively because they elected to see only what seems obvious.

im curious,is there a reason why you cant just regulate the supply to the voltage needed using a regulator

Sorry at all. BTT please. This is PLAdvanced Thread what I started.

Discussion about PLAdvanced only.
