I'm considering to buy a breadbin c64 with KU141 mortherboard,

Is it a good investment? What are the pro/cons of this motherboard comparing to the different ones?

I guess it comes with the SID 6581, is it right?

Many thanks.

all long boards came usually with 6581 SID's
all short boards came usually with 8580 SID's
All C128 came usually with 6581 SID's

however, You'd better ask seller BEFORE purchase, as there are a lot of nanoSID's in the wild, these are good, but not perfect

It is an early board so yes it should have a 6581 installed unless it was replaced at some point.
Good investment? Probably not. Buy it if you like to have one, but don't buy it because you think it will increase in value. It may die on you one month after you get it and that will surely decrease its value. :)

I am not aware of the differences between this revision and the later ones, other than it may have one of the older buggy VIC-II chips in it.

Apparently they are 'really rare', and tend to dictate a higher price. Not sure if this is true as I have loads. They are only available as PAL, and came between 326298 REV A and 250407 REV A. In the USA they had 326298 REV A/B/C and then 250407 REV A.

There is one drawback to them, the capacitors at C107 & C108 are usually the small/low-profile type. The leak and corrode the traces around U31 resulting in no video. You should replace as a precaution.

Thanks guys, I passed on this one.

If you know where I can find a good c64 breadbin in excellent condition preferably with motherboard: 250425 or 250466, SID 6581 please let me know. I’d like to have it with the vic 20 function keys but if possible, nice combo ?
