I have the following set up which has been running the last couple of weeks without fault until last night :-

A1200 Rev. 2B
Blizzard 1260 @ 50Mhz with 128MB memory
Indivision AGA Mark 2
16GB CF HD Prepped and set up courtesy of Fitzsteve with ClassicWB ADV SP
Micromys v4 PS2 mouse adapter, with a generic USB mouse and adapter

Everything has been great, system was running fast and stable, no major heat issues from the Blizzard or anything. Could leave it on all evening 6+ hours at a time without issue.

I turned it on last night to show a mate an Amiga running Quake and it wouldn't load, tried Superfrog and again wouldn't load. Both times the mouse froze and after a short while the Amiga reset.
Tried again and again with same problems. Sometimes it would go to a black screen and then reboot, other times it would just freeze.
A couple of times when rebooting the Amiga hung on a solid red screen, which I assumed was a Kickstart rom error.
The odd thing is, I can run ADoom without a problem which I tried multiple times, and an A1200 demo I tried ran without fault. Breathless 060 version would run but only after a recoverable error flashed up.
I have also noticed I am unable to load Dopus, it just goes to a black screen and hangs.

I have already swapped out the PSU, stripped the Miggy and checked the Indivision was seated correctly, pressed on the roms to make sure they hadn't come lose etc. I have also removed and reinserted the 1260, all to no avail.

Luckily I have 2 spare A1200's so I am going to try a bit of swapping about see if it is an Amiga problem. Failing that the only other things I can think of are the ram on the 1260 has gone flakey, or the Indivision card which I doubt as it boots to a Superplus 800x600 Workbench without problem.
Every time I switch the system on the Workbench boots great, the problems only arise when I try to run stuff.

Anybody have any other suggestions I could try?
Thank you in advance.

Have you tried another power supply? Have the capacitors been replaced on the motherboard? Have you checked all the motherboard traces? You will need a multimeter and set of schematics. Have you booted without the accelerator? With an original mouse? I once had GAL go wonky that worked on occasion, once replaced all was fine. It could be that.

Have you got a basic ram board or can you try the cf in winuae, cf's can have a habit of corrupting data and maybe something has gone wrong. I'm happy to test the cf again here to rule out software issues.

Thanks for the replies guys.

bdb Have already tried a different PSU. Caps I believe are original, board looks to be in good condition, but luckily I do have 2 other 1200's I can try the board and card in.

fitsteve Unfortunately I use a Mac which only has E-UAE and nowhere near the features of WinUAE. The strage thing is last time I tried it a couple of days ago, everything was working fine. I had run Quake and had a run around on Breathless with no issues.

It was literally turned off for 2 days then the problems arose. I first thought the PSU but swapping it made no difference.

The only thing I have noticed is I am on version 46.15 of the 68060.library
I was thinking of replacing it with the 46.7 version. I am not sure what version was on prior to the problems, but apparently my lad installed the Blizzard 1260 disk a few days back by accident, when we couldn't get an 8GB CF card to show up in the PCMCIA. He thought he was installing the CF drivers disk, but had picked the wrong disk out of the drawer.
Long shot but though best to mention it.

Indeed, these issues could be library related.

I use the libs from here:

http://phase5.a1k.org/index.php?driverslibraries

I used 46.15 as that's what is working perfect in all my 060 based machines.

I would re-copy all four of the files in the archive just in case to be sure and overwrite.

Also can you do a little check for me, go to 'MyFiles' drawer and look for a tool in the Large Drive tools called 'Check4gb' run it and report back, I just want to make sure I remembered to patch the scsi.device for you

You can also bring up CLI and type 'version scsi.device' and press enter.

The problems could equally be 4gb barrier wrap around issues

Hi Steve,

I managed to solve the problem. When the Blizzard disk was installed it had put a thing called Cyberpatcher in the WBStartup folder. I removed this and everything is back to normal. Quake runs properly and Breathless loads without error. Just tried a few other things like Superfrog and they all boot properly now. :) :)

I will check the check4gb file, I am just putting the Miggy back together :)

Thanks again mate :)

Glad it was an easy fix, I'm 99.9999999999% sure I set everything up correct for large Disk support but it's always worth checking the obvious things :)

I'm not sure what Cyberpatcher is but there are a few things with Cybergraphics and such that don't play nice with CWB ADV SP.

Hi Steve,
Its all back together and everything seems perfect :)
I have checked the scsi.device and it is :-

version 43.24

Thank you.

AFAIR Cyberpatcher is a phase5 program that enables better FPU performance and is designed to work with their 060/040 boards... (it's the equivalent to OxyPatcher or HSMathLibs...) it's a good tool to have loaded IMHO

Thanks for the info Keropi :)

I think I might have installed it reading up on ways to optimise the 1260, either that or it ended up being installed when the lad got the CF and Blizzard install disks mixed up?

It doesn't seem to run well on ClassicWB ADV SP though, every issue I was experiencing has gone since removing it from the WBStartup folder.

what I remember doing is going here: http://phase5.a1k.org/index.php?driverslibraries
getting the latest libs marked "Systemlibraries for 68040/68060 Systems. This is what you need..." (1st or 2nd item)
and then using cyberpatcher from the archive below (3rd item labeled "This is the last official 68060 archive from phase5") and it was working fine with me... eariler cyberpatcher versions were crashing for me too...

What? It wasn't the PSU or caps? Amigas can't have software issues, it is just not heard of! Dam_n it, someone must have left a lawyer alive! Didn't I say, "First thing, we kill all the lawyers."

Sarcasm was my maiden name.

Well, to be honest I thought exactly the same when I started getting issues. First thing to come to mind was a hardware problem.
Luckily it was just the Cyberpatcher causing the issue.

I still need to update it using Keropi's guide, but it is working great and I am now reluctant to change anything :D

If it ain't broke....

But saying that I use Registerd HSMath Libs on my 040/060 based miggy's and it gives them a nice little boost, an extra couple of FPS on 3D Games :)

Er, Steve, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" rarely applies to retro Amiga's. "Faster, bigger, more expanded, more updated and more unique" are the words of the Computer Smith hard at work!

[Some folks forget you can actually get real work done on these critters]
