I think it fits a desktop but is in the way of a possible CPU card.

That would not be a problem, but I noticed that there's another adapter out there which has two slightly different versions for the Desktop and Tower, see:

Electrically the circuit looks the same, but the socket spacing is different, so I take this adapter would not fit the ZIP sockets on an A3000D. Have you got any chance to do a test fit?

It seems I've wrongly assumed the spacing is the same in both motherboards. It's the tower versions so it wont fit an A3000D motherboard as is.
