Hallo everyone,
I wish to propose you a device/adapter/unit for all Amigas, actually in the embryonic phase, named RGB Encoder with Sync Doubler and VGA Video Splitter.
This unit consists of two main stages, a RGB PAL/NTSC encoder which will generate Y/C and CVBS signals suitable to be recorded onto a DVR or viewed onto a TV set and a H-sync doubler and video splitter for viewing a PAL/NTSC Amiga screen in two standard VGA monitors (working near 31kHz), each of those will visualize a half Amiga screen at the double of the 15kHz PAL or NTSC frequencies. This is an experimental feature which will work on most part of the monitors that normally work at least at 31kHz and 50/60Hz of Horizontal and Vertical frequencies respectively.
However the R,G,B,H and V signals of Amiga port will be buffered and tied directly to VGA output 1 as well as RGB encoding will be turned off when a VGA-compatible Amiga screenmode is detected by a special circuitry of the adapter.
See below its block diagram for details as well as a part of the prototype I'm working on, made using standard components. Final versions employ SMD/SMT devices.
The adapter could be for sale in large quantities but I'll take pre-orders for a first batch limited to 50 pcs yet.
According to those who could be interested on, I propose two versions: a "limited" version with the VGA Sync doubler/splitter only and the "full version". The PCB is the same for both versions so that the limited version could be upgraded but you have to resend me the adapter in this last case.
The price is 50 € for the full version and 30 € for the limited version but all the parts (PCBs, ICs, crystals, connectors, etc.) will not be ordered until I have collected money for building at least 25 "full version" units in order to keep low the price since the component suppliers make some small discounts for 25+ pcs. as well as because I unfortunately do not have the funds to pay in advance all the required components for assembling all them (each unit is composed by about 40 single parts!).
Because my limited spare time, first units will be shipped around one month later the 25th unit will be paid in advance. Please be patient for the delivery. Who pays first, first I will dispatch it/them.
Due to the discontinued D-SUB 23-pin female Amiga connectors I am forced to use the 25-pin cut-down female version but on the other side I own around 50 pcs of 23-pin male connectors for the RGB Syncs pass-through port (see block diagram). Luckily for both final versions the most part of the rest of components will be modern and readily available SMD components. The unit will be furnished unboxed yet (please send a PM if someone wants a boxed version).
You can choose two types of shipping: by ordinary or registered mail, with different costs.
If the shipping is effected inside Europe for one unit the cost of the ordinary mail is 6 € whereas it is 10 € for registered mail. The packaging cost is included. For more than one unit and/or outside Europe please send a PM for the costs.
Prices are referred to payments via Bank Transfer or Paypal Gift. For standard Paypal transactions you have to pay commission fees which have to be computed case by case (please send a PM).
Who wants to reserve a device, please declare a specific interest below in the thread, then send me a PM with the quantity, full name, shipping address, email, version (full/limited) and TV standard (PAL/NTSC if applicable) as well as the type of shipment and payment. Once paid the item, the deal will be considered closed therefore no refund will be done. Please wait for delivery only.
Also I offer some discounts: who will purchase 10pcs of "full version units" another one will be included for free (i.e. bought 10, sent 11 pcs, bought 20, sent 22 pcs., etc.). Instead those who bought my 23-pin-vga adapter can take advantage of a discount of 6 € for each purchased 23-pin-VGA adapter una tantum. Please declared it via PM.
I will compile and report here a list of the buyers as soon as I will receive payments from them.
The design of this device is unique, I "expressly designed" it for Amiga retrocomputers fans, so I guess it could be wise for any Amiga fan to own one.
For any other info not present in this post please send a PM or post the question(s) below.
I will reply ASAP.
That's all.
