Hello peeps,
I'd very much appreciate your collective thoughts on a thorny issue I'm facing.

I'm the very happy owner of one of these:

-Psion Netbook-

IMO the most perfect computer ever conceived - to be precise mine's actually a Series 7 with a netbook personality module, but let's not split hairs.

So what's the problem?
Well, wonderful though it is the OS, EPOC, just doesn't do it for me - there was to have been a port of RiscOS to the device which would have made me the happiest bunny in the known universe. Sadly it looks like the dev has given up. This machine is a complicated beast and some of the support chips aren't well documented.

Here's my dilemma:
I've got a Raspberry Pi currently earmarked for another project - but as long as I can figure out the screen and keyboard there shouldn't be too much trouble fitting it in a NetBook case instead.

-Mmm, Fruity-

Hmm, there's also the matter of a very groovy Android-based device I have who's mobo could go very nicely - especially as the NetBook has a touch screen. Too many projects, not enough time...

-Mmm.., Droidy..?-

Pro's:
The most perfect OS in the best 'laptop' ever made

Con's:
Doing it right will be a lot of work
It's a horrible thing to do to such a lovely machine

Thoughts..?

Thank you.

PS
No discussion on the relative merits of one system / OS over another unless it's of direct relevance to the question, please.

Don't do it!

Don't do it!

Best not destroy a perfectly good Psion.

What you really need is a Motorola Atrix Lapdock. Using a spliced USB cable and a micro HDMI adapter, you can build a Pi laptop easily, with a hight quality display, spare USB ports, battery powered. Even has a sound output in built.

And I have one of these with the required cabling. We could do a deal, I've been after a Netbook for a while...

Oh, best send a PM if you want to discuss this as I don't come round these parts often..

Keep your Psion in good shape and if you don't want it sell it to someone that needs it.

The devices from that era are still very useful and durable.
I myself still use my 10 years old Sony Clié palm handheld, although i have owned in the meantime several much more powerful modern smartphones and netbooks.
Even in the latest Android, there is no software able to do better than my Sony PalmOS device for my professional agenda and contacts list, and several other useful functions. The Psion is that kind of things, and can do even more.
Not sure that my Google Nexus 4 will still be there in 2023.
