Hi Guys -

I have an A2500 - long story short - I have from 'right' to 'left' a GVP G-Force 040 w/16mb, Picasso IV, AD516, SupraRam2000 fully populated to 8mb. On power-up it's only showing 20mb total, 16mb on the 040, 4mb on the SupraRam2000.

When I remove all but the SupraRam2000 I get 8mb - no matter how I arrange the boards the Supra only gives me 4mb of the 8mb.

I've gone over all the jumper settings down the line but to no avail - any Guru's out there with some insight?

Thanks,
Karyn

One of the other cards is using up memory space. Put one card at a time until the memory drops. That will show you which one it is.

I can't remember, but it may be your Picasso

Would that make it a choice of the Picasso IV or the Supra? Graphics or RAM? Or is there a solution to move the offending RAM space?

i would remove the supraram board, and just use the memory on the 040 card anyway.

EDIT: personally i would not bother with the supra card and try to get more memory for the gvp 040 instead.(4x16mb simms, although they will be hard to get now)
you wont be able to get around the memory problem as you are now its a conflict on the zorro bus.it wont matter where you put them.

You are completely right on both counts - as nice as it is to even have the extra 4mb (of my 8mb) I'm going to remove the card and prevent any conflicts in the first place - that and it gives me an extra slot :) and yes would prefer to keep the 040 and fight the good fight in my search for 4x16's :) - I can sink the card in my other A2000, not a total loss.

Thanks mate.

The Picass IV uses 4 MB in the zorro II space, so there is only place for 4 additional MB. So jumper your SupraRAM to 4 MB, that's it!

I thought of that as well - but is it worth taking a slot for just 4mb of RAM? Oddly enough I just put 8mb fresh brand new chips in it, as well as populating my A2091. It's been many many years since I've had this much fun working on computers, but admit I've forgotten some of the nuances of the Amiga.

Oh, you could sell me your Picasso IV as it does occupy 4 Mb... :D :D
