So I recently acquired an NTSC amiga 500 setup with the original 1084 monitor, an earlier version.
I would like to directly install files to a hard drive when I'm not playing originals or copies of originals directly, which has not been an issue with gaming in the last 10 years but I would rather install when possible. Then again want to avoid emulation as much as possible, so I don't need advice about how all games can be downloaded or anything like that.
For hard drive options:
Is the IDE SSD/IDE 68 solid state a good option in terms of performance compared to SD and CF option ? I was told it handles things better despite it being older. Do I need a specific accelerator installed if I already have it on the amiga I bought? Will IDE 68 have enough space? I just need to install games one game at a time and then erase the previous. Where do I get the IDE 68? Which store?
For save state programs:
What amiga 500 software allows for save states? I have something called game wizard 32 for the dos and I can any game save at any point. I really really want this because so many amiga games were brutally hard and not playtested. What is the closest program for the amiga that could run without some weird emulation addon which essentially is amiga emulator, I want to run things as old school as possible as much as I can while using a save state program. Just looking for a normal program that allows you to make save states I can run on the system somehow, what else would I need?
From what I understand, I could be wrong but WHload seems limited to running a certain number of fixed versions of games, that are posted on a site, that originally corrupted during copy protection? Or I am getting it wrong? Is it even useful to get? I would rather use my own files if possible. Are there any programs/devices that prevent games from potentially corrupting if dumped?
For floppy copy/transfer :
Does gotek/greaseweasel allow you to transfer files from modern pc files to floppy or only USB? and do they elimate floppy corruption when dumping files?
For new old stock amiga floppies:
Where do can I get new old stock floppies best designed for the Amiga for a decent price? And opened/used ones
For running pal games:
Will an 8372 - agnus - pal/ntsc switch on all amiga 500s? How do I know if this works on my Amiga? Also, could I still get vertical/horizontal screen cut offs with some games or speed/sound issues? Could my older 1084 ntsc monitor not display anything pal?
I live in place where muilti system is used and I haven't setup my amiga just yet, everything was tested and cleaned up, it is in top condition. Please let me know what you can. Thank you.
