I'm looking for the best card for raw 2d speed and dvi out.

Seems like the radeon 9200 pro 128 bit is the fastest and best solution for the mediator.

Will a voodoo be faster for 2d?

Does a voodoo card come with dvi out?

Thanks for the guidance.

Some Voodoo 4 and 5 cards have DVI.

As for best, then it depends on the OS you will run.

OS3.9 with Warp3D then Voodoo 3,4,5 is the best option. Warp3D will not work on Radeon with 68k OS (3.x)
OS4.1 (or 4.0) Classic then go for a Radeon.

Radeon might be slightly faster for 2D in OS3.9 than Voodoo but I like my Warp3d :)

I will only be using 3.9, but the only game I will be playing is nightlong which is only 2d.For quakes and such I have PowerBook running MOS.I read somewhere to stay away from voodoo 4 and 5 because of the power drain.I'm using a 3000Di with a stock power supply.

Ok, So without needing Warp3D then you will probably want the Radeon.
Yes Voodoo 4 and 5 do use more power and are best used on Mediators with direct feed from newer PSU's. I use an 450W ATX in my A1200 tower.

Voodoo4 4500 is excellent if you would use some 3D. But Voodoo need active cooling. Otherwise Radeon is good choice for 2D. Radeon will give you also 100+ MB RAM as Zorro3 RAM and it is passive cooled.

Update: Voodoo4 4500 does not have DVI even when PCB has place for it.

I have seen a website somewhere that shows what components are needed to add DVI to voodoos which didn’t come with it installed. Can’t find it now though :(
