I am using a 64GB SSD with my A1200, and have this IDE adapter [ https://www.ebay.com/itm/133289727375 ] and the SSD to IDE adapter [ https://programatory.archi-tech.com.pl/pl/p/Adapter-ATA-IDE-2,5-IDE-44pin-mSATA-Amiga/232 ] the SSD is this one [ Amazon product ASIN B08G4NYN2N ] the SSD is working very nicely so far but I have one issue where it occasionally fails to boot up. For example when the Amiga has not been turned on for a day or so the SSD is not recognised as it it shows the HDD light once and then goes to the Kickstart screen, once the Amiga has warmed up it boots and reboots without issue. My A1200 has a TF1260, Indivision AGA Mk3, A314-CP and one of the new PSUs, it has been recapped about 2 years ago. I was wondering if maybe I have too many expansions in my A1200 or if I should use a different adapter or is this normal for an SSD.

That's a common issue on Amiga with some SSD or harddrives which are not ready fast enough at boot. I had this before with an IDE SSD and a Viper520CD in my A500Plus, and i needed to Ctrl-A-A after kickstart screen, then it was flawless.
As for the A1200, i have the same rasport IDE thing, and the same type of IDE msata adapter. Probably the problem here is your SSD, i use Sandisk or Transcend SSD without this problem.
Not a big problem if it works after a reset actually.

That is good to know, perhaps you are right about the SSD. It does not show up at when I press both mouse buttons or do the Ctrl-A-A restart, only after I wait about 2 minutes and turn it back on again. Hmm maybe I should try a Transcend or Sandisk. I just had a look at the Amazon reviews for my SSD and someone else mentioned even in a Windows machine the SSD was not recognised and sometimes you had to wait for a long time.

Yes those cheap SSD from unknown brands are usually no good.
Sandisk and Transcend or other reputables are not that expensive.

I bought a Sandisk 240GB SSD and IDE to SSD converter off Aliexpress. Seems to work okay off the standard A1200 IDE header.

Thanks for the replies guys, I changed to a Transcend SSD but the same issue is still occurring, randomly the drive completely disappears not even showing up in the Early Startup Control screen. It sometimes comes back if I turn off the Amiga and unplug the power cable for a few minutes. Maybe my adapter is damaged?

Is your A1200 recapped? If not, do it urgently. If yes, indeed try another ide to msata adapter. The Rasport thing also has a buffer chip that might fail, so try without it.

Yes, it was recapped about 3 years ago, I will find another mSATA adapter and try it with a cable instead of Rasport.
