Hello,

Please review this doc to find errors, misspellings, etc. Right now the doc is rev 2.9, once peer reviewed it will be rev 3.0 If you are interested in contributing I can send you the ODT (LibreOffice Writer) file if you want to edit it hands-on.

Also, if anyone can re-do the IN1000 logo (font + shadow), I'll display it proudly on the first/title page.

huh, you are correct, let's try again

edit: nope, it throws away my PDF, it that format not allowed? I watch the PDF upload but save the post and it drops

edit2: blah, ODT is listed as a not-acceptable format, PDF is though

edit3: huh, the original PDF does upload, my LibreOffice PDF export does not

edit4: another huh, I exported my ODT to PDF, then compressed it to ZIP, upload shows it is uploading, it sits there showing while I construct my message but nothing saves

test 5 - this time I printed out the new manual, then scanned it (NAPS2), then saved as a PDF, upload works, shows it uploads, but saving the post nukes the PDF, there's also no little PDF logo like the original manual

Can confirm that the original is available to DL and open/view, but nothing else is showing up.

I bet it's the size. The PDF is 20MB in size because of the embedded color pics.

Really well done. Just some scanning artifacts and a few other small things. I did not reference the original. So if you wanted to maintain any errors in the original then I may have corrected them below.

Thanks!

I just printed the the doc, that's usually a last review for me. Like you, I saw some grammar mistakes in the original. I don't believe they should be kept for originality.

The Spirit IN1000 was probably (if I recall correctly) the first add-on I purchased for my A1000 way back in 1989 at World of Commodore Toronto. I paid $525CAD for the 1.5MB version - I still have the receipt. It made the A1000 so much better with the fast RAM. It also came with a 68000 already installed, which I think was a mistake, but it means I still have my original MC68000 from my A1000. Unfortunately that's about all I have left of all my Amiga stuff.

You scored a free 68000 - cool.

I wound up (sadly, by choice) with a wrecked A1000 and I'm slowly working through it. The package wound up including a Derringer 030 accelerator, DKB ROM switcher - it boots from a 2.04 ROM not a floppy!, and the IN1000. With all of the stacks on the CPU it arrived in pieces with 30% of the pins bent.

Do you know of anyone who has performed the IN1000 battery hack? The low priced GlitchWorks/Tindie add-on seems like a nice looking hack.

Did you ever have any memory issues? I read about the memory 'technically' not being auto-config'd. The little I've played with it has not shown any need for extra steps for the memory.

No, sorry. I know no one in my area involved in any retro computer tinkering. I used to know Syd Bolton at the PC Museum. Unfortunately he passed away (way too soon) a few years ago.

I don't recall any memory issues. The board worked as advertised. I sold the A1000 just over a year later to pay for my new A2000. Now, going through some of my old literature I probably was incorrect about the IN1000 being my first expansion purchase. I most likely acquired an external floppy drive at some point before the memory expansion. I don't have any paperwork about the floppy drive because I seem to recall that it was a Christmas gift.
