Hi

I have a CS MKII 060 @ 50.......it only boots and runs programs from the internal IDE, recognizes it's onboard ram.....but does not recognize the A4000 zorro slots, and also not an attached CyberSCSI module. The MkII Update fails.

Is a repair possible?

Thanks,
pvanb

Have you tried a different accelerator card with the motherboard to check if the motherboard is functioning correctly. The Zorro slots are usually controlled by the Buster IC so your fault could be the motherboard more than the CSMKII

Hi,

Yea I did...I had two other CS MKII 060 @ 50 mhz both of which worked fine with a CyberSCSI unit, with a 2091 SCSI zorro board and with an A4000 GVP SCSI.board
The Amiga A4000 works flawlessly with both and with an A3540 @ 40.
I am sure it is the firmware on the CS MKII
But I am not sure which chip is the bios one.

Thanks,
Peter

pvanb have you tried flashing the card with a new firmware?

this can be done via the amiga

Yes, I have with he latest MK II update...just flashes a message..."firmware faulty or or jumper setting incorrect"....no I have the manual so it was done correctly.

Only the SCSI is affected, boots and runs OK under IDE

Thanks, probably not fixable as propitiatory IC chips might be needed.

Maybe see if the Boot rom IC can be replaced, a friend did this for one of mine in the UK, but sadly this was not the issue with mine and it still doesn't boot. but he was able to read and write to it and verify the rom data.

Hi,
which is the boot rom?....and the CS MK II boots and runs fine, the memory on board is recognized, just not the Zorro slots (except the bottom video slot which I'm using with a 2320 deinterlacer)

The boot ROM I believe lives in that AMD 29F010 flash chip which is replaceable. However, it's not guaranteed that the fault is related to ROM issues regardless of the update error message. Some glue logic resides on the MACH PLDs which tend to overheat and die over time, and the content of those are unobtanium - if one of those are faulty then it's game over for this card - unless you have a donor specimen.

"MACH PLDs? which tend to overheat" ?

Well this prob;em with this CS MII goes way back, early2000's if I recall.
It was working fine, like a champ and after
i aquired a SCSI controller add on for it, I decided to do the required update.....which
hung up, as it did not complete for a very long time.
Finally I bailed, restarted, and it would then only boot with IDE or floppy, as I had been using
a GVP HC + 8 for SCSI, which was no longer recognized by the Cyberstorm.
I had to source an IDE HD and install OS
Since that time I stored this CS MK II and I acquired two other
CS MKII and used them for a few more years until I
went to a Cyberstorm MKIII PPC.
All went into storage about 2006 ish or so, stored everything Amiga, basically
Sold the two working CS MKII, and would like to sell this crippled one as well.
If fixable or as crippled if not, has ram on it that is recognized.
I forgot it was crippled until testing, and then recalled that the zorro slots would not be recognized.
Yes, I should have kept one working CS MKII with the scsi controller, and perhaps could be
able to get the firmware off of it...with a logic analyzer or a bios programer?
