Hi all, can anyone tell me how I can work out a resistor value without the colour coding?

I have a pong console here that a resistor has burnt out. The machine still works but I'd like to replace the broken part. From what I can make out, the first band is brown, then it appears to be a black band but this could also be burnt residue. The middle section is missing but the last band is gold.

ive tried to attach a picture below but it's difficult to get the camera (iPhone) to focus.

any help is appreciated.

Hi bud, no that's not my board. My board is a very small square. I'll snap a picture when I'm home later and post it up.

this is my board (it's difficult to get a clear pic with all the wires. The resistor sits between the black wire (which goes off to one of the paddles) and the capacitor in the bottom right (with the black mark on the top)

If it's the same circuit for the other paddle you should be able to get the value from there with luck

Hi matey, I thought the same but the other paddle doesn't have any resistors in line with the wiring.
the console appears to work fine without the damaged resistor but I'm guessing it's there for a reason.
