Know its an old game, but I love it and it is soo much better than the newest one. I need to get ET so I can play online, but I like the single player campaign as well. Anyone here play?

Enemy Territory was nothing compared to the original RtCW. I used to play a lot back in the days, on clanbase too :) There are still a lot of servers for it, but most run Shrub mod. Favourite maps were mp_beach and mp_base :)

I played it on the original Xbox - I loved it... I guess ET is only available on PC?

I played the single player of it and loved it! One of the few games I ever played to the end in fact!

Absolutely brilliant game, and still looks pretty good today! ID software at their very finest :) Or at least the Quake 3 engine!!:p

The recent sequel felt like purely a cash in on the original (remake) title from around 2000/2001.

I would love to complete it actually so will have to start the game again on easy as I just cannot hack it at all on medium :oops::Doh:

RtCW is one of my favourite FPS of all time. I've completed the single player quite a few time... I just love the atmosphere the game generates, and as as-rs1600i said, it still looks pretty good even today.

Multiplayer was always fun, and I played the original online game a lot at the time. Not so much ET, but if anyone else here wants to get a game going I'm in. With the original multiplayer I always enjoyed the gold run level and the destruction of the communications dish level. Those were great. Although the beach one was alway very atmospheric too, but it was hard to find any games with people who actually wanted to work as a team on that level back in the day.

A friend used to work for a company that specialised in multiplayer networked PC gaming and they used to have RtCW running all the time in their Southampton shop when I used to visit. :)

The game still rocks thats for sure. Single player is a blast and loads of fun. Multiplayer is even better if you can get team players to tag along. The communication dish you mention Harrison was mp_base. It was great to get a 3vs3 on that one.

I still have an rtcw server on a linux box ready to rock. Latest patches along with OSP and a nice map rotation :)

I had it several times on my pc's. I never played it that much but that was because of other interests- I like this game alot.

I did not say that:whistle:

This is one thing I like about classic computer... I can win at some of the games, something I can't with modern system, except for WoW...

i think defender of the crown was the first game that i ever played to the end !!

and that remained the only one until Doom came along ...then halflife!!

I suck at FPS.
And sadly this is just about the only big thing on PC.
I have to fire up my PS3 to play the kind of game that I like these days (arcade, plateform, rpg).

I miss the variety of the old classic platform on modern PC.

It's the opposite for me. I find many older games a lot less forgiving and a lot harder now than I remember them being back in the day.. Many had very rigid 3 life and then game over systems. You don't see that very often these days. Normally you can now just keep playing until you finally achieve the goal.

I agree with you there!!! My brother use to get so mad trying to beat Premiere on his Amiga 500. He could only get so far, and then with no way to save it, and no passwords, he had to start all the way over again. I like most retro, and newer games about equally.

Those were mostly the arcade games. I was more a rpg & wargames player myself. Both of those are rare on modern PC now. I would say that modern fps and action games on the PC are more like those arcade games of the past. Especially when playing online against overactive teens.

I'm too much of a nervous wreck to become any good in modern fps... But give me a good rpg like Dungeon Master or the SSI "Gold Box" AD&D series and you won't hear of me for days. The Panzer General series was also a great one on PC except for the last one.

Ah the good old days... Now if I can get those kids off my lawn I could return to my games... :p

I used to play the RTCW campaign all the Time ( i lost count how many times I finished it) but none of my mates did cos they found it too hard, they used to like Medal of honour. So never really got into the multiplayer, I use to play Deathmatch quake online in the early days and was quite good, but again none of my friends did. Now I play mostly Halo 3/Reach on Xbox 360. But RTCW was in itś day one of the best games ever made, I loved the game however found the end level a bit of a let down. The new Wolfenstien on Xbox is pants by comparson though.

Best ever baddie was the Flame thrower Nazi trooper, and they looked cool.

Huh? There are loads of RPGs and RTS released still. I'm also a fan of these genres over most others. Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age have to be 2 of the best recently.
