Hello everybody,

This 50 year old retro dad is new to the forum. Back in the old days (80's) I used to have a C64, now 40 years later I am enjoying my midlife crisis and got back into the old computer.

So first I got myself a C64 breadbin model. Added a 1702 monitor that unfortunately came without the front door. So I bought a 3d printed replacement. Fine for now, but hoping to find an original door someday. After that I added a KungFuCartridge and a SD2IEC to easily load games. Also added a WiFi modem to browse some BBS's.

Some weeks ago, my brain made a little short circuit and I decided to also buy an Amiga 500. Because everybody that I told I was into the C64 said that they used to have an Amiga and how cool it was. I never had an Amiga when I was a kid so now I'm slowly learning how to use the Amiga. It's so different in usage compared to a C64.

The Amiga 500 was completely stock when I got it. First thing I did was adding a Gotek drive. External because I wanted to keep the original diskdrive working as well. This made it so easy to load games and other software. I soon realised that adding a harddisk would be a nice extra. But because my Amiga has Kickstart 1.3 I will have to upgrade it to 3.1. Last week I ordered a dual kickstart 1.3/3.1 that I am hoping to receive soon and build into the 500. Next step after that will be extra ram and IDE controller for a harddisk.
