RTG video card memory usage question.

When using an RTG video card, will the system still use chip ram for higher video modes?

The reason I ask...

I am getting ready to get a Picasso II video card.

I currently have a Retina Z2, and my system eats up chip ram. I am hoping my new card won't do that. I assume it is because the Retina Z2 uses an emulated video mode.

Oh why do i spend so much time and money.... oh yeah ... Amiga is AWESOME.
 
Using a Picasso II and either Picasso96 or Cybergraphx 3/4 will not use chip ram for the RTG video modes. Sadly the Retina z2 does not support either of the 'modern' video drivers.

You made the right move there, the PicassoII is a great card, as you can see in my Video here I have full chip Ram when using the PicassoII in RTG modes:
