Hi,

Due to upgrading to a Sam460ex, I am selling my Sam440ep-Flex setup. It comes with the following:

Sam440ep-Flex 667MHz Motherboard with 1GB RAM installed. Original box and manual included.
Radeon 9200SE 128MB and Radeon HD 5450 512MB PCI video cards.
SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 Digital PCI sound card.
Boxed AmigaOS 4.1 for the Sam440 series.

Please note you will have to buy a Radeon HD Licence to use the 5450 under Amiga OS 4.1. I am keeping my licence for the Sam460ex.

I bought the Sam440 in October 2012 so it is only a few months old. It is running perfectly and has not been over-clocked.

I am selling it for AU$330. This includes free worldwide Registered Airmail and I will cover PayPal fees. I accept PayPal as payment.

Will post photos shortly.

Thanks for looking.

Interesting, he's now been and gone

I'm off to bed

Ok

The parcel arrived today and everything was nicely packed. I didn't recognise the ram but it was in great condition but thought perhaps you'd brought it elsewhere? Nevermind, just a passing thought.

We do have a small problem but I don't want to get on the big band wagon and try and ship this all back to you. If it's nothing too major I'll just get it fixed here.

So, what do the scientists think of this? I was carefully looking over everything and then slipped the board out holding it in my fingertips as you so and I flipped it over and saw this. A damaged Track? I might ask ACube what exactly is affected here.

The other picture is just another snap of another area of the board and wondering what sort of resin is that and should I worry? The entire surface of the back of the board has what looks like a milky resin in various concentrations. It might be perfectly normal or a consequence of being in a humid climate, no idea.

Anyway, like I said, lets not jump to any conclusions

Ummmmmmmm.... Very very bad . i dont think this is an acube fail mate.something goes wrong after some (desoldering??)hardware modding I think.

ok I got a email from Enrico

he said:

About your question:

J17 is the internal USB port of 440ep CPU.

Maybe the old customer made wrong connection to this port.

I think probably he damaged only the 5V track and you can rebuild it
soldering a wire from c308, the vias before it and the Pin 1 of J17.
Anyway firstly remove the damaged track and try to power up the board to
check it's all ok.

So I will try and give this a go soon. just a little pressed for time the last few days, daytime job and then paper work needed for my new company...

Well finally (after dinner tonight) I done a direct swap out from my every day SAM 733MHz - after addressing nvgetvar and changing 1002 to 1112 all my HDs showed up of course :D

My USB mouse and USB keyboard works as expected connected to my rear USB ports and my front USB ports work too, I tried both (each in turn) with my nokia phone and displayed pictures from the phone memory

SO, what is that track? and how come it looks like I don't need it afterall!

The 9200SE works just fine too but I think I'll pop one of my 9250s in or give the 5450 a whirl

All looks good and I even registered AmigaOS4.x for the SAM err again

I better PM colmiga and see what if any options there are

It has been confirmed the serial line is affected by the damaged track, ACube recommends I send the board back to them because chances are the U22 needs to be replaced

hmmm, profile says not on since 21st of Feb - which would place it to PM about sending parcel

perhaps only logs in when wants to sell something and lurks the rest of the time, fishy or circumstantial ;-)

We shall see

Hi Slayer,

Nothing fishy going on. I am happy to help pay to get this fixed for you. I was not aware there was an issue.

Now I read the thread I see that I did connect a USB header around the wrong way on J17 in the past but I did not notice any damage at the time and the system worked fine. The GND and VCC would have been swapped to the card reader it was going to and this would have probably burnt the trace.

I honestly did not realise it happened but now it makes sense how it happened. I did use the serial port before I plugged in the card reader but not after so I never checked if the serial port was working. Had I done this I would have found out.

I would have preferred you PM'ed me first (if you did I apologise) as I would have been happy to get this sorted for you.

Sorry about the public diary but when I noticed you hadn't been on for quite a bit I thought a record of events would at least show what had been tried, had been done and what happened in the right order

I've sent you a photo but I think the photo in this thread is probably good enough?

Sorry if it made you feel awkward, I'll contact ACube again as per your email and see if I can get an answer and a quote

Thanks!

ACube has come back with an estimated cost for shipping and repairs and colmiga and I are sorting the finer details. It will be a little while yet before we have full closure but everything has proceeded very well and colmiga has my sincere thanks for his active participation in rectifying this situation. Stay tuned for the final part!
