can you be a bit more specific when you say sound chip please.
also ,has it had a cap change,at all?
other than that,is there anything else thats wrong with it?
has it always done this since you have had it etc.
could you try something for me please,get a normal audio cd and put it in the drive and play it,not a game.
then tell me if the access light stays on constantly when reading the cd.
basically,i want to know if it does stay on constantly and the cd audio still stutters or not,the light cant flicker in anyway while doing this while playing a track all the way through.

the add on boots up fine and reads the game like normal, its the sound chip that is the problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoHdmug7r2Y this video shows exactly my problem.
is that your video or someone else's,because that screen dont look like one from the mark 1.
please try to not post others videos when it comes to repairs,only videos of your machine with its problems please.
otherwise its going to be really difficult to help you.without having the machine right in front of me.
like this,does the audio only have problems in certain functions? such as the boot screen or mpeg playback or during the game or playing cd audio or on everything.
because there is more than one ic responsible for audio.
when i ask about capacitor changes,its because these leak on the main board...which might not stop it from working but might stop certain functions of the console from working properly.
try the test i posted above,on your system.then please report back.

Nevermind..the sega cd audio chip is stil broken, ill get a record done, so you can hear how bad it is.

what i mean by that is this,is it there all the time if you are playing a game playing a audio cd that sort of thing.
or...does it go away when when the console does certain things?
like,the audio you hear on the startup screen,does it also happen when an mpeg is playing and dont do it when you play a game or play a audio cd.

it can do mpeg? i dont have cd's with that, i do have sonic cd thou.
and when i play a audio cd its acting normal, like a typical cd player, its only on the acttract screen when playing that tune the audio is messed up.

where the short movie/animation sequence is where sonic is running around?

because if it is,ive seen this before...
i have asked this before but didnt get an answer,and it will answer where the problem is pretty quickly.
put a audio cd in the drive and see if the audio playback from the cd is ok...can you do that?

Would sonic cd be enough? i waited to let it do its familiare video scene, i treid to press start after a moment on the video scene but you would hear i needed to reset the machine again, i cant explain itself myself best so you need an audio recording to explain it.

not a game,a audio cd.just any normal compact disc that you would use in your cd player on a stereo.

i have some more information on it, the graphics like mega cd and sege sprite wont show up, just that static space background.

if you do just send me a pm,i cant promise anything as this may have parts that may of failed that cant be got but ill give it a go as its mostly working.
i wont need the power supply or any cd based games etc just the main unit.but i will need to see the main board up close cant help or do anything unless its in front of me.
bare in mind the main board on these suffer capacitor damage,evry one ive looked at has this problem and it ranges from mild to very bad sometimes stopping the machine from working all together,just so you know.
but i dont mind looking at it if you willing.
if i cant fix it i wont charge anything just shipping back to you.
