Sega Megadrive-Genesis PAL/NTSC & Region Switchless Mod

Just thought I would upload a few pictures up of my latest project.

This mod enables me to select PAL/NTSC and/or the region Euro/Jap/US on my megadrive without the need to drill holes in the original casing for switches.

To achieve this, a PIC 16f630 is place in line of the reset switch so that the switch can be used to send commands to the PIC to instruct it which mode to place the megadrive. All in all its quite a simple mod, with a few traces to be cut and a small circuit board to be constructed.

I also have to thank Zetr0 as ever for casting his eye over the components to make sure I had the right stuff!! Cheers Z!!

Think I need to practice soldering on Stripboard, the solder flows so freely over it. I tried to file it a little to give it some "grip" which helped a little.

I recently did an old-fashioned switces mod on a very-nice condition megadrve1 , too bad my tv has problems understanding md's 50->60hz switch... it only happens to megadrive1 , everything else works fine....
