Denmark is locked down (officially from tomorrow but already today). All schools, public institutions, bars, cinemas, swimming halls, gyms, clubs closed for two weeks. All public employees sent home too (except police, hospitals etc.) People are advised to bike instead of taking the bus. No gatherings.

I'm ready for some serious gaming sessions, setting up my workshop (moved recently) and cutting down my movie queue.

Didn't buy any extra toilet papers though.. People emptied toilet paper shelves all over the place which is a mystery to me.. If you'll hoard why not hoard something more essential like food or whatever.

Simple ... fire up the Miggy and play some games, demo's or both :)

What else is there to do? lol

The toilet paper hoarding originated in Australia because the factories were told to focus production on face masks instead of toilet paper, the media got hold of this and then came the panic buying, the media coverage in this day and age is far more dangerous than any disease in my opinion.

Sure Covid-19 isn't to be taken lightly, but the panic caused by the media coverage really doesn't help.

I'll probably be working remotely hoping the industry I'm working in (sporting event branding) gets through this without folding...

I didn't know that, that's amazing, so the toilet paper panic spread all the way to Denmark. You are right, this is perfect proof that the media psychology in itself is viral. Except it's much more damaging than your average meme.

The shelves have been cleared here too, all essentials now, they don't even know why they're buying them they just fill the trolley because they see someone else doing it. We're literally lemmings lol.

Worst case deliveroo now do doorstep delivery so if I have to live on Nando's sobeit...

I saw a report last night on TV about the company (see picture for hint) that makes a popular UK brand of toilet paper ... 4 million rolls made every 2 weeks and they have 6 factories here in the UK churning them out 24/7!

Why is there a shortage in stores? It simply boils down to the supply chain not being able to cope with the demand (panic buying) from Joe Public.

I think all the sheep (erhm.. people) are shitting themselves of fear of running out of toilet paper. The irony is the more they do that.. finish the thought.

The cleaver people are stocking up on immodium

Toilet paper, here in the US also. In addition to the cleared shelves, today at work we get an email from the building management people about repeated theft of toilet paper from the hallway bathrooms. Someone has actually been unrolling all of the toilet paper from every dispenser in the men's rooms and presumably folding it up and walking off with it.

Its absolutely nuts.

Seems to be a thing with my countrymen and panic buying...I don't understand it as we generally don't have the paranoia of civilisation collapse like the yanks do.

I reside in SEQLD AU, weekly shop was yesterday, hand wash, tissues and dunny paper, had low stock levels, but were available (mind you 10 bucks for a 20 pack 50 cents a roll:o) everything else seem to be freely available.

Maybe I just hit a good time after a recent delivery, who knows?

There are 3 ODI cricket matches against NZ starting today, closed matches no spectators allowed in the SCG MCG and Bellerive Oval Tassie  wow.

The media hype is everywhere, which just keeps breeding more panic, the era of always being connected is displaying a significant downside.

Yeah bummed that the F1 is cancelled but they could have called it sooner than 2 hours after the gates were meant to open

Yup, same thing here. Toilet paper panic activated, although not in shortage. Shortage on cleansing items, and face masks are sky-high in price if you can find them. The Olympic flame lighting ceremony took place yesterday, with a very limited audience attending.
I personally don't feel any different than i used to, but my out-of-home activities were limited anyhow. Luckily i'm retired and most free time is spent on my hobbies and renovating the apartment. These past few weeks i've been working on building electronic payloads for model rockets (stabilization system, altimeter, recovery).

This is really nonsense :-D

Here is Spain it's the same too, my wife was socked to see toilet paper shelves empty yesterday at the store, and she asked the clerk about this, she answered that store has stock for refilling the shelves, but people are nuts about this and they don't have time to refill constantly the shelves to cope with the demand, because they have other things to do than attend panic nonsense buying, so they refill at the end of the day...

Both my wife and myself are freelancers working from home, so we won't have any forced holydays, but our daugther was really happy about school closing for two weeks... if I were a kid I would be too :-)

Same here in Malta....

Toilet papers hoarders galore, hand sanitizers gone.. Lockdown for public schools is for 1 week at the time being...
No social gatherings exceeding 2000 ppl [e.g. St.Patick's day event cancelled] no Church masses, no inside weddings, no local football matches [last week only players in the stadium were allowed].....

BUT social media is killing us! Too much panic. Officially total number infected here with Covid-19 is 12, last night some scumbags did say that total has risen to 30!! Authorities etc condemned this alarming number as it is not true..

Most parents urged for school-closure; which it is a double-edged sort due to now parents cannot take leave to stay with their children...

Mehhh let's see where this goes, hopefully for better...

Here in Barcelona

Yesterday at the English school we have been told that the academy closes for weeks or months ... the same as the University, Colleges ...
Every day we have more and more infections and it grows very quickly.
In pharmacies there is a sign on the door indicating that they do not have masks or hand sanitizers.
Many of the Chinese stores have closed for "holidays"
My girlfriend is Chinese and has bought food for 1 month. We don't know where to put it. She is very afraid.
Her family is quarantined in China.
From China it is thought that Spain (and also Europe) does not take this virus seriously.

My father is sick and I personally am afraid for him.
I am in favor of quarantine not out of panic but out of caution, thinking of the weakest people...

What I'll do? Wooooork...!

I'm employed at an University's IT department, and with the whole institution being closed down (including all education activities) lecturers will be needing to video stream their classes and/or produce video material for their teaching, in order not to fall behind curriculum. Also, any work done at home by our employees wont be getting far unless people have a working setup. So for us, the administration, operation and support for IT-systems continue, we just do most of the work from home.
In fact, most work days will probably be longer due to the circumstances (today will be probably be from now until 9 o'clock in the evening for me)

I imagine most people in the same field as I have it the same way, but so far everything's going fine. We have a great team and enough people to cover the shifts, so even though I'm not off work, I'm having a good time! There's also time to browse these forumboards still, looking for Amiga 500 stuff.

I hope you and your families are all doing okay out there!

Compared to some people I haven't been out buying anything yet since everything got locked down, and the irony of it all is that we're going to run out of toilet paper soon  :D
