Ram disk is not much faster than reading from IDE CF.
I tried putting some files into ram disk and compared it with the speed of IDE.
Ram disk did not seem much faster if at all.
I also tried using a program call power cache so the IDE only reads the same file once then after from ram.
Just like smartdrive with MS-DOS.
I was thinking about getting the IDE-FIX Express to double my IDE speed and use a CD-ROM drive.
Also Scummvm does not run any better with the game files in ram disk.
I still bet a bubbling sound with reading monster.sou, even after compressing.

RAM DISK: is still a disk containing a filesystem, accessed by conventional device drivers so the same overhead exists as with real disks.
It is not comparable to raw physical RAM which is accessed directly at the electrical CPU interface level.

The benefit of RAM disk is no delays due to slow mechanical parts present in real disks. A CF has no mechanical moving parts, so the benefit margin is logically much less. But in the old days of floppy drives and slow hard drives, RAM disk could be a useful thing to have (if you had the RAM to spare).

Whats your config? (Amiga model, memory configuration, etc)

I see a huge speed increase when using RAM Disk.

It's all about access time rather than read write speed.
