This morning I was quite surprised to hear that my mate Berry got banned from AmiBay.. and yes.. He is an outspoken person who has an opinion he will share with you when you challenge him.. but isn't that normal to do? Do we really want to ban people who have an opinion?

I guess I do not need to start mentioning George Orwell's 1984.. but that is how this looks to me.

Be nice.. reverse that please!

+2 :)

Was it the post in the pic that got him banned? Or the - by now deleted - Sybian retro joystick ad?
Found both quite amusing, to be honest

I don't know and neither does Berry as he received no warning, no mail, just a big fat ban.

I too thought it was hilarious.. If that is the road we are going, I too better silence or leave.

I read his "+1 hate Amibay" post, (let that one slide), checked his trades and could see some trades not going his way so thought he was letting off steam and ignored the post.

but the "funny" advert is NOT the way to behave.

Amibay is a family site and adult pornagraphic material (no matter how inocent or funny you think it is) will NOT be tolerated,.

Membership to Amibay is not a right...

Then give the lad a warning and remove the post.
For a forum that prides itself on being transparant and open, and requires its users to be just that when it comes to trades, sales and user location data (to name a few); a blunt, silent and unannounced ban as was given to Berry seems misplaced.

he is quite welcome and able to appeal the ban himself to another staff member if he thinks the ban was too harsh and give reasons why he posted adult material on a family site after posting he hated amibay.

I took into account his previous infractions and his post "+1 hate amibay" before banning the account as protection to the site if he went on to post more inappropriate material on a family site.

the ban is in the staff area and open to comments from the other staff members, no other staff members have commented the ban was harsh, but I am more than willing to hear comments on this regard,

The "joystick" incident if you want to call it was funny. If there are any kids on AmiBay without supervision of their parents (which I doubt) or any religious jocks who could get offended from sexually explicit material.. I think the post did not classify as such to begin with. No nudity was shown. Just a toy and for those who KNOW what it was I can say "don't be hypocrite now" ;-)

You let the +1 HATE for AmiBay slide after you gave a +1 HATE for Facebook? I guess Berry also let yours slide then. No space for double standards right?

I seen his trades.. No idea what you refer to as previous infractions. Maybe also review what he brought to the community. Those posts are often forgotten and only the negative is being observed.

Knowing Berry he won't appeal. Neither would I if I was given a ban for something like that.

@iRetrOVolver

I'm closing this thread down as the choice of whether to appeal or not is entirely up to Berry.

There is no point in discussing this further in the open forum.

If you or Berry disagree my PM box will be open later today.
