Hi Andy,

I have one or two speccy's indeed! I like the Spectrums as they are relatively simple to diagnose and repair. Trouble is with finding certain chips (like the ULA chips) to repair them with.

The Amigas are a little more difficult to say the least..and I may have to give up on the 'dead' 500+ as I know it's not a chip problem as I've swapped them all from my good 500+.

I hate admitting defeat :sigh:

There's a high likelihood that it's battery damage that's killed your Plus. You can always post up a thread on here with some photos for our resident experts to cast their beady eyeballs over. You might still be able to repair it. I've had a great success story with an Amiga 3000 I acquired that had been battery gunked pretty hard.

Don't be ashamed of your Atari's, we all love Amiga's but Atari's also have great games. Also started with a Spectrum 48K (It took me a bit longer to get my hands on an Amiga.....)

There are some uber-skilled electronic surgeons on this site, you would be amazed at what they are capable of. The brain power available on here contributes to global warming.....but don't tell anyone, OK? :shhh:

It was only yesterday drbrain's Repulse sound card was brought back to life with assistance from us, so there is hope that your Plus can be resurrected.

Your A500+ still has some hope yeah, and we do have a few masters that can revive it.

A few weeks ago I didn't dare to clean a Amiga with Vinegar and Alcohol, but what the heck, as I didn’t remember where I put the Vinegar after a phone call, I just flooded the alcohol over the board, and sure enough the A2000 kickstarted again
Eventually I did find the problem being in one of the resistor RP900 being cracked and after some more bending to see the 68000 tracks it was broken.

Yup, Retr0bright was developed with a lot of help from people on here and EAB; I just project managed it and provided "the science bit".

Arrowroot needs heat to make it gel, just like cornstarch. If you've added loads, don't heat it now or you'll be cutting it into slices!!

I can send you some xanthan gum if you like; PM me some deets and I'll pop some in the post for you...
