I finally have a new stock of GALs, ready to be programmed and tested!
However please note the following:
-Price is now $15 including international shipping. +$2.50 each additional chip
I found on the last batch that shipping alone often came to more than $10, which left me at a loss for the GAL chip, the package and the time I spent programming/testing/mailing.
I never intended to make a profit of this, I merely wanted to help people who wanted this elusive upgrade for their cards. However I can't continue funding it out of my own pocket. I merely want to break even. With the large number of chips that I'm sending it is far too time consuming to get individual postage quotes for everyone- its much easier for me to just work on an average.
I apologise to anyone that may be offended by this, but the code for the GALs is freely available on the internet, so you are welcome to purchase your own programmer and chips and I will happily help anybody to program the chips themselves.
If you are located in Australia I can do it for $8 as domestic shipping is much cheaper.
If you got in early at the cheaper price, consider it an introductory special
GAL chips may not be compatible with certain revision CT1350
We've found that certain cards WITHOUT a revision number printed on the board, do not work properly with these chips. The CMS may work but the Adlib or digital sound may stop working when the GAL is installed.
I'm told that the person who dumped the chips originally, Chuck(G) at Vintage Computer Forums, is going to investigate, when he gets the time. There is no timeframe on this.
My two CT1350 cards are Rev 3 and Rev 4, and this is printed right after the model number in the top right of the PCB. If your card has no revision after the model number then I cannot guarantee that these chips will work for you. If you decide to purchase the chips anyway you do so at your own risk. I won't refund them if this is the case, as all chips are tested in my own cards before I ship them, so it should not be any fault of my own that the chips don't work.
I am also happy to program any other GAL chips, or BIOS/ROM chips, if you supply the code and the chip, and pay for return shipping costs. Please don't hesitate to ask. (This includes UV-erasable chips - I can erase and reuse them).
Please post interest in this thread if you would like to buy a GAL chip.
