Up for sale is this rare vintage SpectraVideo CompuMate computer keyboard for the Atari 2600, a quite rare retro piece to find nowadays. This unit was designed to plug into an Atari 2600 and make it a full fledged computer with 16K basic.
The unit is in very good condition and works perfectly.
The CompuMate by Spectravideo was a rather unique add-on for the Atari 2600 console, that almost turned Atari's all conquering games machine into a home micro. It added a keyboard that attached itself to the 2600, some extra RAM, a version of BASIC, a simple music synthesizer program, a rudimentary drawing utility and even provided with the option to connect to a tape recorder.
The basic programming function of the CompuMate allows for a very much larger program size (2K) and therefore a greater scope in programming.
The CompuMate is a full-power add-on expansion unit with 16K built-in ROM, 2K built-in RAM, built-in Microsoft BASIC, and a 42-key sensor touch keyboard. It fits snuggly on the Atari.
The adaptable CompuMate is also an excellent music-making machine, featuring 2-octave and 2-channel capability. The built-in Music Composer program lets you compose and play your own songs.
Price: 70 EUR, including shipping WorldWide.
