Hello All:
I ran into a problem which I thought I'd ask folks about.
I have a Spirit 1.5MB board installed in my Amiga 1000, running Workbench 1.3. I recently acquired a Starboard 2 with an additional 2MB of memory. Unfortunately when I turned it all on, nothing worked. When I ran Sysinfo, there wasn't any extra memory at all allocated, nor were there any boards present.....this told me it wasn't seeing it at all. The extra memory also doesn't show when I look at "avail"....just the chip ram and the Spirit board are present.
Thinking that it never "sat" very well, so I eventually pulled the board out of the case completely and tried it directly into the 1000 expansion bus. That DID work, kinda, in that it a.) created a 2nd RAM disk but b.) it didn't show on SysInfo. When I clicked on the second RAM disk THAT in turn caused the system to error with the following Guru error:
003.00C1EEC8
From what little I've been able to find out this indicates some type of memory conflict, maybe?
So my (at present) theory is that the Spirit board and the Starboard have conflicting memory addresses, at a guess? This somewhat surprises me since 1.3 is supposed to autoconfigure, but I only found this towards the end of the day and didn't have time to jot down the Spirit board addresses.
Has anybody worked these two boards in tandem? Did you have to do anything special?
Thanks!
Steven
