I am looking for a known good working DMA chip to replace the -38 in my 520 STe.

Thanks

FYI
I have also one 520 STE with the so called bad DMA chip.
I had the same idea BUT
I have just acquired the following : https://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?85357-ICD-FA-ST-dual-hard-drive-for-Atari-ST-STE-TT-ACSI and everything works good.
Also as I have searched very good this on the Atari-forum it is a thing of try and miss.
There is also another discussion regarding Satandisk or the newer one that maybe this is the problem and not the DMA chip.
Just study a little bit more on the atari forum to have your own opinion.

Thanks very much for the information. I too have read the article Sardine mentioned and I was unsure if it would actually be an issue. I also read on another site that it appears to be Batch related rather than the Chip code and that although some -38's have proven to be an issue, the batch code on my chip is not on the "Problem" list. I think I will just buy the HDD I am interested in and hope it is not an issue. If it is then I guess and PSU service may be in order.
Kerkyra2007 I saw the same Hard Drive you purchased and missed it by a few minutes :) Glad it's working good for you :)

Thanks again for the advice and information.

I hope you will succeed. The Hard drive with the driver from Peter Putnik is working like a charm!!!!!!
