Hello everyone,

I have this weird issue that I hope someone can help me with. I have a RTC module from either Amigastore.eu or Amigakit. I can't remember. I also have a 4-port Clockport expansion module from Amigakit that also plugs into one of the ROM slots.

If I connect the RTC module directly to the clockport - it works just fine. If I plug the RTC into any of the 4 ports on the expansion module - the RTC module is no longer being detected.

I connected a Amiblaster CP module into the clockport expansion module... and it works just fine - so it seems the clockport expansion module works.

Any ideas on how to get the RTC module working with the clockport expansion module?

Thx much!

A.

Not much info on this page, but it's still handy. Have google translate handy unless you're german native speaking.

Tidbits from it
Port 0 is compatible with the original clock port (address $d80001), ports 1 and 2 correspond to those of the Zorro-IV board (address $d84001 and $d88001) and port 3 (from revision G) is a fast clock port ( Address $d90001).

The labeling for the orientation of the clock ports follows the original of the Commodore circuit diagram and goes from pin 19 to pin 40. Please note that the voltage of +5V (VCC) is present at pin 20, while ground (GND) is at pin 19 and pin 39

From revision G onwards, the Clockport Expander has a Fast Clockport on port 3 , which is up to 41% faster than the standard clockport in the internal benchmark* . This increases the maximum data throughput from 612 kb/s to 867 kb/s

*The benchmark was carried out on an Amiga 1200 with an ACA1233n turbo card (68030 with 40 MHz) and a RapidRoad USB extension. To do this, a 10 MB test file was copied alternately between USB, RAM and hard drive.

On faster systems, even higher values can be achieved (sometimes over 1.5 MB/s , which corresponds to an increase of over 70% ). This makes it the world's first and only Clockport Expander to achieve these values.

From the table below, it seems you need your expander to be rev F or later to support a RTC.
RevisionNotes
Revision A
  • first public version
  • Adaptation to Indivision AGA Mk 1
Revision B
  • Added buffering
Revision C
  • Adaptation to Indivision AGA Mk 2cr
Revision D
  • cosmetic changes
Revision E
  • Switching to 4-layer technology
Revision F
  • Adaptation to clock modules (RTC)
Revision G
  • Fast clock port on port 3 (up to 41% faster)
Revision H
  • Adaptation to turbo cards (RTC)
Revision I
  • independent RTC port
  • Adaptation to energy-saving 3.3V technology
  • Added LED indicators for Power, Reset and Use
Revision J
  • Input plug for better power supply with weak power supplies
  • Securing the clock ports using resettable fuses
  • Reverse polarity protected plug for connection to Gayle adapter

I simply guess that your Clockport Expander is too old and does not support RTC.
