Strange pc problem

Hi have a dell xps 730 and occasional when playing a game ,I get a problem that very second I hear a white noise sound and the screen update drops a few frames,so for example playing warthunder,the graphics jump.
turning the pc and rebooting solves the problem ,it occurs after the pc has been on for a few hours but happened only one in 5boots.
any ideas

Hi either the cpu or gpu could be overheating and throttling to compensate

have you cleaned the machine out eg fans or reapplied thermal paste

try running a temp program like open hardware monitor or speedfan
