The Donator Banner - What's it about?

When our members make a donation they receive a PM from me with a short thank you message.

There are the odd exceptions (2 to date) to this if they've failed to tell me their forum name or I've been unable to track them down.

It has been suggested in the past that perhaps we should do something publically so that all our members can see who is supporting AmiBay.

So I've decided after a short discussion with the other Mods/Admins to create a Banner that will show you as a Donator.

These will show within your profile as well as any posts that you make.

These will only show for the current calendar year. Each January 1st they will be removed and will be added back if you make another donation before December 31st.

Hopefully the above makes sense.
 
The colour of the Donator Banner has been changed to show up better.

If you are a Donator and don't wish to have this new Banner please let me know and I'll remove it from your settings.
 
Just giving this a bump because we are now in the New Year.

Over the next couple of days the Donator banner will be reset.

We would like to thank all the previous donators for their generosity and without you there would be no AmiBay.

So "Thank You" from the team
 
It would be only fair to have the banner visible for a duration of one year from the date of donating. Someone making a donation in February would have the banner considerably longer compared to someone who donated in November.

Unfortunately that would be more difficult to manage.

I did have a conversation with a member the other day who donated in late December and who only had the banner showing for a couple of weeks before it was turned off.

The intention behind the Donator banner was two fold
1. as a way of thanking those members that made a donation and to encourage other members to donate.
2. to reset it each calendar year otherwise I'd have to go back to 2012 and add the banner to all the previous donators.

We actually have one member who has donated several sums and has asked us to not to enable their donator banner.

The member concerned has asked to remain anonymous and will remain that way unless they change their mind.
 
Additional text has been added to the Donations page to hoepfully clarify the process of the Donator banner.

Please note that a Donator banner will be added to your profile and will remain active for the current calendar year.

After which it will be removed until you donate again.

As it's getting to that time of year again I thought it best to bump this thread.

We'd also like to thank all the members that have donated in the past to help maintain your AmiBay.

Without you there would be no AmiBay.
