Viusal Basic is RAD Programming langauge as far as I know :)

Visual Basic for Applications then? (vba)

not that I like to promote this crap. I almost lost my will to live the year I developed in vb.

GFA BASIC
TrueBASIC

ScriptBASIC
QBASIC
QuickerBASIC

At R3Ply last year I rememeber a chat with (caution name drop) Archer McClen, and he discussed DarkBasic, and how powerfull a prototyping tool it is.

So if that isn't a fantastic pseudo recommendation of a basic to get into - I dont know what

Has FreeBASIC been getting better since I last used it? I liked the earlier versions all right as a quick way to throw together utilities and fun graphic-ey toys, but the code generation was way underwhelming (much slower than an equivalent program in C.) And the newer versions, last I checked, were all about tightening down syntax and typing, as if that's any of the reason you'd use a QuickBASIC clone :/
