I sat and watched 2 classics this week..

Battlefield earth & naked lunch.

To say they are bad films is unfair to bad films. Naked lunch I knew would be odd, very odd. I tried reading the book once. But .. Battlefield earth? I read that book as a youngster and enjoyed it but the film...

Oh dear.

Anything i decide to watch with my spouse that i haven't read reviews on prior to watching, is inevitably going to be the most bizarre or odd movie ever. Last time we did that, it was a movie about a community that existed purly for breeding future organ donors. Good movie, but when the fact the kids had that in the future came about she uttered "What the **** are we watching?". And that is not unique, there are certain oddities to every movie it seems. ;)

Haha Naked Lunch, loved that film. Always had a soft spot for pyrethrum and old typewriters since then.

Bizarre/odd films that spring to mind:

Tetsuo - The Iron Man [the first one, in black & white - mind you the second one is pretty weird too]

Eraserhead [not sure I managed to watch this fully]

maybe Existenz and Videodrome

This year for me the oddest is sucker punch

yeah.... still trying to figure that one out....

I have to admit I do like Battlefield Earth... yeah I know it stinks to high heaven, but I just can't help myself.

Another strange one is Mutant Chronicals its a really enjoyable action film, I love the artwork - very WW1 + Steam Punk... so clearly thats a winner for me!

i watched "the cabin in the woods" last night, it is a bit odd but bloody brilliant!

LOL, I was waiting for you to chirp up with Far Cry - then we can have that Far Cry verses District 9 royal-rumble-super-slam-smack-down =)

There's only a few films that I sincerely regret having watched. Most films that are bad are only so because of bad acting or a bad story, but there are a few that go way beyond my capability of getting a grip on illogical things.

I think the top 3 of the most incomprehensible films I've ever seen is this:

2001 - a Space Oddysey
Solaris (1972 Soviet SF film)
Lost Highway

I've seen both the Human Centipede 1 and 2 and both were pretty weird

...SNIP...

Both mucho awesome films!

Weirdest? Yes, Naked Lunch is a very good candidate. Some of the scenes from Crank 2 rank up pretty high too. All in all I would have to say Phantom Menace - that film just doesn't make any sense!

I half enjoyed battlefield it's just so poor compared to the book.

in my childhood i watched a horror movie. anyone have an idea which one it is. it was a group that found a white marsmellow-ish mass under ground and started selling it as a tasty treat. it was very addictive and suddenly it was a huge crazy. the stuff was organic so suddenly whatever it was crawled out of the hosts bodies. first horror movie i ever saw and i'd love to watch it again. probably terrible seen with todays eyes as most such flicks are.

Worst ever film I saw was called "A Serbian Film" if any of your friends tell you to watch it tell them to **** off  One movie I wish my m8 never made me watch. I still get flash backs sometimes, not a nice movie at all.

Pi was a film that I had to watch twice to fully understand it. Awesome!

Thats the very same movie. Thanks!

Another one was ' the man who fell to earth' a good mix of bizarre and a poor film all in one.

Me and the wife watched The Divide the other night and that is a totally sick and twisted film.

Not for the fact that only a few people get into a bomb shelter for protection from nuclear bombs going off, but for the mindless sadistic stuff that goes on in the film. To top it off there really is no answers to questions you really want to know about.

Really makes you think will this happen given the fact of the right people in the wrong situation.
