So recently I've been itching to give Theme Park another go. I have had issues with the AGA WHDLoad version in the past (it's well documented that it suffers from massive slowdown and is basically unplayable) so I gave the non-AGA version a go. I played it for a couple of hours and was doing pretty well, saved it, re-loaded the save state to double check it had saved, but as soon as I exited WHDLoad and tried to load the save again, nothing, it's gone
oh:
So I gave up on the WHDload versions and tried to install the floppy AGA version as it was originally intended. It took a good few goes to get it to install properly (due to my floppy drive issue as per my other thread) but finally got it running, and hey presto, the AGA version runs with no slow down
so I played it for another hour, saved, exited, and... It's gone again. Aaarghh!!
So it looks like not only do neither of the WHDLoad versions work, but the original HD install doesn't work either. Surely this would have been picked up by magazines/the testers when it came out? I know most people used floppies back in 1994, but surely SOME people had HDs and not being able to save would have been a pretty major bug! It seems the only way you can save is to boot from floppy and then create a save disk. I wouldn't mind having it installed and using a floppy to save, but apparently you can't, if it's installed you have to save on the HD.
Surely there must be a way of playing Theme Park on the Amiga without booting from floppy? Don't make me play it on DosBox instead
