Thinking of Getting Windows 8?

Windows 8 is without doubt the worst OS that i have used in many years.no wonder people are not buying it.
 
It's nice on my Netbook, I wouldn't like it on my main PC though.

I was using it earlier and I was stumped for a while at how to create a new Notepad text document without a start menu lol :lol:

But I'm still pleased I bought it for the Netbook, it's 1 million times better than Vista it replaced :cool:

im not getting into that "ive got to get the latest os every time one comes out" crap.
 
Until there's a good way of completely removing the new UI (whatever it's called now) and only use desktop mode, I'm not going to try it on my main PC, at least not any time soon. Would like to get the internals of W8 with the UI of W7. :)

Windows 7 is doing it very well for me, but if I get to a point where I cannot run new software/games, then I might be forced to move. I assume that's the main reason they're not making new DirectXs for W7.
 
Don't think I'll be going on it until I absolutely need to.
 
I'll stick with my Windows 7 64bit installs. Runs stable and fast, all you can ask for from Windows :lol:

Exactly. When they add an official option to enable/disable MetroUI then we will talk...
I can't believe they didn't follow the golden rule: if it ain't broken DON'T fix it! , metroUI is a nice idea but not for a desktop machine.
It does not matter that the end user can learn to live with it, it's bs to shove it down on people's throats like that. At least leave an option to use it or not... major fail that one....
 
I agree with the point in the Youtube video that Windows 8 is aimed at consumers, not content creators. It's not a business interface by any stretch of the imagination and a lot of companies are still on XP or are in the process of migration to Windows 7, so even if they release Windows 8 in late 2013/early 2014, businesses will have just bedded down their new infrastructure after moving to Windows 7.

It feels as though Microsoft are trying to emulate Apple and are cribbing from their business model, both in terms of built-in obsolescence and in terms of moving towards charging for content and more heavily marketed apps stores, backed up via cloud computing to try and reduce CPU demand on the client machine.

Simply put, they want you by the short and curlies and Windows 8 might eclipse Vista and even Windows ME by being a huge flop.
 
Windows 8 (and especially the Metro interface) offers nothing of value that would sell the idea of it to business or serious home PC users. It will be ignored as a toy by business.

Windows 7 does just about everything that business and enterprise users want and they won't see a case to change.

Another thing; can you imagine the Office suite of programs using the Metro interface? :double Office 2010 with the 'ribbon' was bad enough, but Microsoft Office meets Fisher Price? No, on so many levels, no...

bahahahaha @ the pic. LOL!

m$ are renowned for doing this though.... good OS, bad OS, good OS, bad OS..... they'll learn from Windows 8 and most likely get it right in Windows 9 :) I'm not moving from 7 for another 5 years at least...

Windows 8 will be remembered for the same reasons as windows millenium....short life spans
MS are paranoid that everyone wants a tablet touch screen OS, they need start asking people what they want not what they think we need.
Its a recipe for comercial suicide/

Thing is, MS are right - the Tablet market is seeing explosive growth at the moment, and Microsoft are desperate to get a slice of that.

To be honest, they've done wonders. Three years ago ARM was a party to which they weren't invited - and they've turned that around to the point where in order to have Windows 8 Logo certification, ARM devices must be locked to prevent an alternative OS being installed. It's evil genius, and I take my hat off to them, even as I curse them.

What Microsoft (And Ubuntu, and the Gnome folks as well, for that matter) have forgotten is that despite the Tablet explosion, people *still* need a real OS for their *real* computer.

The irony is it seems the only people who understand this are Apple!
 
^ exactly! My pc is *not* a tablet neither the monitor connected to it has a touch panel...
