Today this turned up, a 1950's Maserati F1 car. I for one think it's a thing of beauty, but you can make your own minds up......

Looks great.

BTW, did you ever see the program with James Martin (the chef) who decided to enter an event for classic cars and ended up buying a classic Maserati? However he failed because the car broke down half way through the event.

I forget what the actual car was he purchased. It cost him something like £800K. It was a 2 seater in the same red as the one you have there.

no i didn't see that, but these old girls do take a lot of money and looking after (and i've known girls like this too) it is very rare to run a race and not need to replace/fix something. Deep pockets are part of ownership :)

I just did a search and the program was called "James Martin's Mille Miglia".

Here is the car he purchased:

A 1948 Maserati A6GCS (only 15 ever made). Entered into the 2008 Mille Miglia.

The girl sat next to him was his co-driver, Sarah Bennett-Baggs, for the event, much to the disgust of his girlfriend!

You may be able to answer this.

As they only made 15 of the Mille Miglia, how does he manage to get spare parts for it? Are they custom made?

Also, will it work in the rain, as the electrics were probably made by Mickey Mouse (I mean Magneti Marelli, lol)?

it all depends bud, some parts will be very easy to obtain as most of the cars of this period used common parts but we do have to fabricate quite a few parts in house.
the electrics whilst poo are so minimal that they usually don't cause many problems

also the Mille Miglia is a race, not the car :)

@ JuvUK.

Is the car you have there a Maserati A6GCM Formula 2 car?

If so, then it is from the same A6 series as the one I posted. Explaining why I instantly thought of it. :)
